Allegedly Emilia gets some character development after the point I dropped it, but I'm not gonna confirm that. Even if it's true, not dedicating screen time to the main love interest for 40 episodes is inexcusable.

And whenever Subaru does something after lots of dying and crying, he basically gets reset to his old useless self.

Agreed! I get what Ito was going for and I still think he's a talented mangaka, but his version of No Longer Human definitely doesn't highlight his strengths very well at all.

I enjoyed Uramasu's take much more; it's a lot more subtle than Ito's frankly odd blood and guts version of the story, and I think Uramasu's decision to modernize the setting was a good one. Thanks for the FR btw:)
