Yes, many corporations contribute in big way to global warming, but because they are greedy, it is the cheapest way to make money and they don't want to destroy the status quo, if it would be profitable to save the planet from global warming, be eco, etc, they would do it as well.

And are you sure about that? If what you said about those "20-30% of people" is true then in US alone you would have about 90 million people who potentially would be saying that we should return to gold standard. Even if "20-30% of people" we would focus on just economists from "free countries" more people would talk about gold standard.
and evidence are clear that Great Depression (1929 to 1933) which basically ended gold standard was much worse than Great Recession (2008-2009).
Also there is a consensus among economists that a return to the gold standard would not be beneficial. Especially considering that it was main reason for severity and length of great depression.
Also Russia stopped using gold standard in 1917r. and most of the world also started to abandoning gold standard in 1932 (after Great Depression) so I personally don't see how Nixon decision would change anything. From what I see entire world was alredy abandoning gold standard, so Nixon decision was inevitable.
Difference between being sceptical and stupidly sceptical is that sceptical person will admit that they were wrong if evidences are showing that they were wrong, stupidly sceptical person will dismis all evidence and will be stubborn for no real reson.
