I'm confused indeed and spent significant time into trying to figure it out, without ever really "getting" it. Haven't read the LNs, so that may contribute. My resolution was to just give it a rest because it's a fairly irrelevant side arc by a minor character. I'll have another look, but it's nearly midnight, so not today. Thanks!
