I agree Angel Beats! has a lot more to offer than Haruhi, but similarity was disturbing for me. I mean, we have SSS that's created through selfishness by Haruhi-like character and they end up doing random stupid things. Character design was somewhat similar in my opinion too.

Currently, i'm glad that they added my fav. characters from the manga into the show now. But.. i'm still disappointed, by the non emotional feel to the anime. I don't scream a the tv like i did when i watched the first show or that moment of going 'oh shit' in the manga. Like the only emotional attachment i feel, is between that of Al and Ed and Ed and Winry. I mean they are the main characters, but everyone has emotions. But are not being very expressed.
I did like the explanation of what happened during the war in Ishbala. But it still seemed to lack that emotional feel.
Plus the story telling seems to be a bit off... A good story keeps me hooked on anything from a book to a tv show to anime. And i find myself not to worried about missing the next episode.
I still like the first series better, even with addition of more characters, which seem to just distract from the story.
