Now,here a complete and more easy way to understand touma skill.

This skill of precognition by touma was like a natural instinct for him and even he doesn't know how to explain it properly.like when using a fork, does we thinking of how to use it?yeah, like that.

In the LN,it was explained that his skill have reached the level of artisan.as example, when an artisan create something even without an idea, they will still managed to create a beautiful piece or art in the end.as time goes on during making the art, their idea will slowly connected and created many ideas and unite it even without thinking it as if their body do the job.

And what's more, this skill of him improved after every fight.he learns from his past battle and apply it to other fights.this skill of him have reached the level to the point he could realized if irregularities or something off in normal surrounding.

Precognition is like when gunslinger try to avoid bullet in gun fight.you must moved before the opponent move and you need a great timing, visual perception and reflex to done that.and touma have nearly perfected all this aspects.

Touma precognition work not only by predict his opponent next move.it also relied on the involuntary movement, face expression, aim field, movement patterns and surrounding.

That's the reason how touma always win most of his fights.in toaru world, strength doesn't always guarantee someone win.the strategy and tactics play a big role.as example, let's say powerful team in football like real madrid.can we guarantee that this team will always win?if the opponent team have great tactic although their player was not a powerful one.there will be a big chance that this team will beat the strong team.

The proof is like when misaka shoot her electricity.her electricity move like the speed of sound but touma always manage to negate it as something natural for him.he could feel the magnetic wave around misaka and move before misaka shoot her electricity at perfect timing.and for other esper,he could sense the AIM field around them and predict their actions and make a plan to overcome it.search "AIM field" on toaru wiki to properly understand it bcz it hard for me to explain this.

He also very smart when fighting.as example, when the surrounding is too hard to fight an opponent.he will run and bait his opponent to place that will give him advantage.

But of course, although it sounds overpowered.there are still some fights that he lost bcz of multiple reason.and the fights his always lose to was bcz of this reasons.

-surprised attack
-too many people at once.he only good at 1vs1 fight most of the time
-point blank attack like shooting a gun from 50cm or so.
-some fight with magician especially saint

The Reasons why he lost to some magician was bcz magician didn't emit aim field like esper.so one of the element that help his precognition skill was reduced and somehow effect his perception of the opponent movement.

The longer the fight.the more chance the opponent will be defeated bcz he will adapt to it and read his opponent movement patterns.the best way to defeat touma is to finish the fight as fast as possible.

Another note:
touma and AC students built different.touma could hold on a moving train and car with one hands, crushed a cameras between two hands,Stomps on a foot made of gold and twists it off, punch a woman back and reopen her wounds,Moves a safe the size of a washing machine and pushes it out a window, punch styl to the point he spin like bamboocopter and etc.yes, touma is strong and his endurance was above average although it was not unlimited.thats the reason why touma could punch someone flying or ended hiz opponent with 1 punch.

Spoiler:

Although it was said that when esper use magic, they will died bcz their body can't take it. in GT1 or GT2(i forgot which one).after the students use magics that make their blood vessels popped up,they didn't die aftermath.thats the reason why AC students built different and not only touma.AC was short term for academy city.

Also, touma actually could finish accelerator in the 1st round with 1 punch actually.it was said in the LN that he only could use "light jab" instead of powerful punch.the reasons bcz touma was weakened after confront misaka on the bridge.thats the reason why it take many punchez to defeat him in 1st round and so the 2nd round.

There was three phase or saga of toaru light novel which is:

Old testament (OT)(22 volume)➡️new testament (NT)(23 volume)➡️ genesis testament (GT)(4 volume so far)

As you can see, touma have many elements and skill that make him very strong in combat.I really recommend the LN,it was so good.you could see the ranking for the light novel and anime on MAL was very far.

Here,then.

In the actual fight, the way touma and accelerator fight was like a chess battle.both of them thinking and analyze each other action.but the anime make it look like both of them doesn't thinking anything.

In the LN, accelerator use 100 black wings on touma and not 2,4 or 6 like the anime did.when accelerator try to hit touma with all these black wings.out of all of them, touma negate 1 of the black wings and these greatly change the trajectory of other black wings and after that, touma charged forward and take a stone then shattered accelerator sternum/ribcage.

Then after that, this is what was said by accelerator and explained in the LN:

""" Accelerator was shocked at first, but soon figured out his tactics from the situation.

From previous reports about Academy City’s #3, Railgun, who Accelerator had faced off against before, in the rumors associated with the Railgun, there was one saying that an unknown Level 0 existed that could match against the Railgun using only his right hand. This raised many questions. For example, even if a right hand that could negate any ability exists, how could the one using it to match his opponent’s timing?

A railgun attack was over three times the speed of sound, and lightning strikes were even faster. Even with a method of defending himself, to be able to time it right was extremely difficult. Even missing the timing by only an instant would probably result in death.

In that situation, how could he easily negate every single attack? From the current situation, Accelerator could make a rough estimate. In other words,

"Precognition"

For example, when the Railgun used her ability, she would give off weak magnetic fields and electromagnetic waves that would make the metal items around her resonate.Because of the eventual large explosion, the Railgun herself probably wouldn’t notice these tiny vibrations like an earthquake’s precursor. It was similar to the elementary school experiments in which you would spread iron sand to be able to see the invisible
magnetic force.

So, because of the “An Involuntary Movements”, there would be hints to
when the Railgun would attack.Of course, that was not all. That was not the only kind.Even though her ability was more common compared to Accelerator’s ability, she was still the #3 Level 5 of Academy City, and shouldn’t be blocked that easily. There were probably other reasons as well.

For example, the lightning strike.
If it was only high voltage electricity flow, by extending his right hand the lightning would be attracted onto it, with the right hand acting like a lightning rod.

Also, the iron-sand sword.Apart from the sword in her hand, the iron sand around her would also change shape due to the magnetic force. In other words, a visible magnetic path would be formed that could be used to predict where the strike would end up. Depending on the situation, he could even negate the sword without coming in contact with it just by touching the iron sand around him.

Sometimes the path to victory would change. Was it using the most powerful ability one possessed, or the aftermath from that ability?

According to different tactics used, the path to victory changed along with it.
What was most important wasn’t whether there was a chance for victory, but to never rely on only one form, and look at the problem from many different viewpoints. Above all, look for the best method to resolve the current situation. Even against the same kind
of espers, the same kind of tactics might not be suited to be used. Even if it was just lightning strikes, depending on how it was used, different tactics may have to be taken.Because of this, battle tactics were always changing.

By depending on the defense from the ability to negate any ability to avoid being killed instantly, to buy time and use it for maximum gain. By experiencing the impacts on one’s own body and using that data as the basis to find the best way to get out of the situation alive.

Just having brains wasn’t enough.
Just having the power wasn’t enough.
Only by combining the two it was possible to barely succeed. In the situation where death was only a hair’s-breadth away, having the courage to keep his body and thoughts moving probably helped a lot as well.

However,The Level 0 probably didn’t realize it himself. How to use his ability in its fullest potential, using the aftermath as a basis, and then
change tactics to fight according to the situation. He was probably just combining those with his reflex.

As for the Railgun making everything made of metal vibrate around her,he probably didn’t take note of it explicitly but took it in using his peripheral vision, and processed it deep inside him. So, success was not guaranteed. On the other hand, if he actively tried to take note of these things it was more likely to fail.

However,Just taking Accelerator’s attack and surviving was exceptional in terms of battle ability.Even if anyone else had this power in their right hand, how many could get the same results?
Taking only the supernatural abilities into account, he definitely couldn’t be called “strong”. """

Yes,he would do that.but rather than kill 10 people.he would beat 10 people or even make the world as his enemies which actually happened in LN.he will beat others but he won't kill anyone.like i said,he was like batman(no killing rule) but will do whatever he want and believe in what he believe as long as he can save someone.he very selfish but also selfless bcz sometime, his caring for others is higher than himself.

I'm pretty sure that you see accelerator vs touma round 2 fight look like something stupid and doesn't satisfied right?bcz yeah,i also feel the same thing since the fight was very different than what happened in the LN.you want to hear the breakdown of touma vs accelerator round 2 fight as what happens in the LN and what touma actual skill is?it might be long writing, are u willing to read it? I won't force you.

Well, about that badluck.it was like a contradictory.the world magic side or organisation will always keep chasing him no matter if he just sit still or going through his daily life bcz of his right hand.he sleep in bathtub everyday bcz index take his bed,he never get enough sleep time bcz nearly everyday something happen to him(his sleep time probably only 3-5 hours a day),always got hospitalised after every fight(got lot of his bones broken, got pierced by weapon and gun, heavy bruise)lost his right arm several times, lost his memory 2 times, might get held back a year bcz always skips class and the biggest badluck happened to him is during volume 9 2nd phase of the light novel(this is really a big spoiler that changed majority people thought about him and the best arc,so i won't tell you about this one).

I really think that this guy have going through a lot of misfortune so i guess, its fine for him to complain.at least,he got a lot of girls around him to make up for what he have been through.but I don't know though if i willing to go through what he experienced just for a harem.

Aside from that,he a dense when it come to romance but also not so dense.he was once said "im too busy with this issue,i dont have time to treat biribiri right now but if i have enough time to analyse what she said,i might understand what she want".

Yeah,it will be better if u read the LN before watching s3 since s3 compressed like 10 volumes in 26 episodes.or you could just read this thread i made so at least, you will get a better understanding of his character.for his skill that should be explained in s3,i will tell you after u finished s3.this skill should be explained during his fight with accelerator in index 3 but unfortunately the scene and dialogue was cut out.

Here, the thread i made(beware, some spoilers from the LN and anime):

1.Touma character is more detail and well written than what you think, you will understand if you read and properly analyze the LN. On a surface level, people might dismiss him as boring or generic. Unfortunately, most of this negative stigma comes attached from the mediocre anime adaptations of the Index Light Novels, which have cut content that are crucial to both world-building, foreshadowing, and of course, character development. Toaru is a franchise that deals heavily with the concept of the "True Will", ideology and other Thelemic concepts.

2. One of the most important things the anime does cut out is the LN's word that he doesn't actually have what one would call "normal morals", he does commit good acts, but fundamentally he is an amoral person and only has ONE rule he abides by. (Similar to Batman's "no killing") You can see him as representing the ideal of maintaining peaceful happy world, but not really caring about what path lead down to it. At one point he even questioned whether he should stop a villain (Othinus) from reality-warping the history of the world simply because, yeah the world would be brainwashed into her version of "peace", but everyone would be happy. (Although later he just decided to let the world take its normal course, because a certain character managed to talk some sense into him)

3.Touma is not meant to be fully identified or self-inserted hero, he is in fact one of the most SELFISH "heroes" in the entire franchise. Unlike other characters who box things into 'good vs evil', 'order vs chaos', or 'friend vs enemy', Touma outright does whatever he needs to make the people around him happy. He's admitted that half of his monologues are simply to mentally destabilize his opponents and/or buy some time. That's why he might act hypocritical, since he doesn't actually believe in them himself. From this facade or persona, other people (and by extension, the audience members) believe him to be the generic hero archetype. They place him on a pedestal, as this shining white knight, because that's what they see on the surface. That's part of the reason why the LN's give Touma better characterization, since we can see his inner beliefs and understand his thought process.

4.When questioned by others on why he continues to save people in need, Touma continually mentions that he doesn't need a reason to save others. And in a way, it's completely true. For him, saving people, and putting a smile on their faces by the end of the day, is the motivation unto itself. It's not motivated by survivor's guilt (like Shirou Emiya), or some form of repentance (like Accelerator), but rather, saving for the sole sake of saving. Touma commits acts of heroism because he desired to do so, not because it was the "right thing" to do.saving people was not his ideal,it was his nature.he will do whatever he want to save them or even used dirtiest trick in the book and only saved those he could reach.

5.However, despite this, his altruism is not meant to be relatable or even healthy, and in fact he has terrified quite some people with how far he goes, and feels almost alien at certain times.(He does become more self-aware over time though, and learns to reflect on the consequences of his actions)

6.In addition, Fiamma (the final boss of the original series) has compared Touma to himself, swinging his right hand around and destroying other people's carefully laid out plans. As said by Aleister himself, Touma is inherently a violent person. He doesn't hurt people for the sake of hurting like villains do, but if he disagrees with their philosophies or worldviews (and that happens quite often), his first reaction is physical conflict. He is the ultimate personification of "you do your thing. I'll do my thing. But if we happen to cross paths, one of us is going down".

7.as you know,he like to lecture or talk a lot to his opponent in the fight.he even admit that he didn't believe half of what he said.almost all the time,he lectured them just to buy some time and lowered their guard.he a hypocrite and at the same time,he knew that but he just doesn't care.for him, saving people is enough as it is.and the reason why majority of LN reader have touma as their top fav character was bcz this trait of him.unlike most good hearted protagonist,he didn't portrayed as a perfect saint that didn't want to commit any immorality and don't realize that they are a hypocrite and blinded by their ideal.but kamijou touma and emiya shrou realized their own hypocrisy, that's what set them apart from others.you could called them "based".they will just do whatever they want.

8.I think it’s interesting that kamachi-sensei(author of index and railgun) try to show that Touma has an ends based moral system compared to the normal means based moral systems that most other heroes have. A normal means based moral system can make a character more heroic because they always try to do the right thing even if it ends poorly. In contrast to that, ends based morals are far more common in villains because it gives them a legitimate motivation for doing evil things (like Thanos). Making Touma a character with different morals was a very conscious decision, as there is a ton of extra details going into the series just to make that clear. He really stands out among heroes because of how different his moral system is.
It’s time to ditch the text file.
