My rating on each and every Anime and Manga is MOSTLY based on the ENJOYMENT I had with the series.
Of course I am keeping an close eye on other major factors like : story, characters, art and sound - since all that is as well really important for me to make an opinion and overall rating. Although thats altogether only on my own, personal taste.
I know that you wont be disappointed.

Ergo Proxy (My one and only, favorite of all time anime and re-watched many times)

Code Geass (especially second season)
Monogatari Series (Bakemonogatari etc.)

Death Note

also most of Anime I rated as 8 or higher!

I would highly recommend to watch any anime/read any manga with rating at least 8 from my list as well.
The rate of 7 is considered by me as just an average but still pretty enjoyable.

Yeah the first episodes put me off too. Once you get closer to the first time skip, it gets more serious. Its mecha so it will be over the top regardless lol. There is another skip at the end as well. The MC, Simon has some the best character development out there.

Dropped Lagann at episode 4... you should really continue it. Gets loads better once you get into the double digits.

yeah its more of Psychological Rom-com then anything but its one of strange way of story telling of a harem also its the same VN company as Shuffle

Battle Royale it was almost made into a american movie then Hunger games came out witch there very similar but battle royale is alot more Gorey and stuff

Well I read some other forums and they mentioned that Fate/Zero spoilt some stuff in Fate/Stay Night. I'll just watch Fate/Zero lol.
