Ah, that sucks. Hope it gets accepted next time around :)
I did okay. Have to work hard for finals though. Only 20 days left to study :(

PS. Apologies for cutting it short and the late reply but I've been busy with a lot of things these days.
Knight007 Oct 4, 2013 11:26 AM
Ah, don't worry about it. You must be busy with your thesis and work, I understand :) how's it coming along by the way, the thesis, I mean?
My exams are starting from Monday, actually. And they only announced just a couple of days ago. I don't have enough time to prepare well but I'm confident that I won't fail. You have exams too? Well, good luck then.
I love sci-fi. Do you watch the new Dr. Who or old the one?
I'm fine for the most part. University takes its toll on me but nothing other than the usual. How are you doing?
Knight007 Aug 8, 2013 12:25 PM
Ah, don't worry about the replies, I understand. No we're not holidays. In fact, we might even have exams coming up in a month. I've heard good things about Dr Who from my friends but I never got a chance to watch it. These days I've only been reading manga.

Yeah, I hear ya. Most people tend to hate C because of the low level memory management ; pointers can be a nightmare if your concepts aren't clear. I like it, though. It's a native language and the raw power it provides is simply unattainable for languages that runs in virtual machines such as JAVA. It does have its drawbacks and most people won't even bother learning it but I think it's a must if you're serious about your programming career.

Big Japanese company, huh? Lucky you. So how long till you finish your masters?

sorry for the late again lol

Wise decision, i not the type to push my prefer console into people but I give them facts on each console and its up to them to choice and I'll respect that. Me too, I'm not big on MP but I am a Trophy Hunter so I'll have to play the MP to get the trophies in order to plat the game.

Since your going for PS4, I'm going to list you the things it will have and facts on about playstation. Btw I copy this off convo with a friend when she ask thinking about getting a PS4 and told her what your going to get out of it so im telling it to you and I had to edited it since my friends names who has a PSN account were in it

I hope it is. Though, I guess it could get complex when writing large programs. I don't intend to go into networking domain; so no. Anyway, it's not optional so I'll have to learn it regardless of whether I want it or not. You did not enjoy C or you didn't enjoy programming in general? :|
Pardon me but I'm rather confused. Did you mean to say that you only code in Java these days?

Ah, thank you. I was considering that one too but I think I'll go with Roger Pressman's book. I skimmed through the first chapter and it looks interesting - or at least it doesn't look boring as most reference text do.

Indeed. I had to write a program for Caesar's cipher back when we were learning C. It was so much fun. It'd be pretty interesting if we're going to have Cryptography course in our programme.

By the way, if you don't mind me asking, what does your current job require you to do?
Knight007 Jul 11, 2013 5:16 AM
Yep, and it becomes much more PTA. Currently I'm learning OOP with C++ which is going alright so far. Moving to C++ directly from C seemed daunting at first because the syntax is very similar and I'd end up writing C statements in C++ code most of the time. Guess I'll need more practice here. Also, we're delving deeper into Databases. We'll be learning some advanced SQL and also Oracle PL/SQL. Can't say I enjoy DBMS much, though. I don't know why but I can't seem to get into it. By the way, which book did you refer to for Software Engineering/Design? Our University recommends this book but I don't know if it's a good choice.

Lol. You can't afford to be lazy because you're not an undergrad anymore :P
We had a chapter on Cryptography in the CS course in our final year of high school. But that was very introductory and went only as far Caesar's cipher and some stuff about keys. Don't remember much lol. I hope you're having fun working on your thesis :).
Knight007 Jul 7, 2013 1:59 AM
Haha, indeed. We wouldn't have anything to learn in University otherwise now, would we?
I just completed my first year so I wouldn't know anything about the topics you mentioned. So far we've learned computer architecture, mathematics (Boolean Algebra, Logic and Set theory), basic parts of Databases and C. We'll be learning some advanced topics in this semester, however. I already had some experience with C in high school so I kinda kicked ass. Lol (I love programming). I did find some parts of Database difficult, though. One of them would be Normalization.
By the way, good luck with your Master thesis. Have your started working on itr? And what is it about anyway, if you don't mind me asking?
Knight007 Jul 5, 2013 10:37 AM
Thank you.

Yes, that's what I hear from the seniors too. We did learn Statistics and Probability along with Calculus in high school so I guess mathematics won't be a problem. Would you care to explain it's application in Computer science, e.g. the last time where you had to use probability? Sorry but I'll be squeezing all the knowledge out of you XD.
Knight007 Jul 4, 2013 9:45 AM
Haha, no. Physics was certainly my favorite subject in high school but not so much of a career choice. I'm doing a bachelor's in Computer science. It's what had I always wanted to ever since I was in fourth grade. Lol.

You're in the same field, yes? How has your experience been so far? Would love to hear some advice from you!
Knight007 Jul 4, 2013 7:07 AM
It was the same here until recently when we got summer holidays. But that too didn't last very long. Hopefully, this semester won't be as busy as the last one.
I've been good for the most part. Graduated from high school, got admitted to the University I was aiming for and currently working my ass off to keep up my GPA. What about you? What have you been doing these days?
Knight007 Jul 1, 2013 10:56 PM
Blackfay, where did you go?
