Thanks for visiting my profile. I hope you're feeling alright, and if not, go listen to Fuwa Fuwa Time or another K-On song. My scores are probably biased as fuck, but who cares? I really love good music, especially in movies and anime. For me, no matter how interesting and fun it is, how great and vast the characters are or how good the plot is, I can't consider something a masterpiece if it doesn't have a great soundtrack. Probably. As always, there are exceptions!
Also worth noting that right now I don't have an exact rating system. I've been trying to make it, but just can't specify anything and after looking at the monitor for a couple of minutes drop the thing. Because of that I tend to change scores from time to time. But right now I feel like a show with 10 is something that undoubtedly is great, in every aspect, but more importantly it has some kind of magic around it, that can shift it's viewer's mind and destroy the border between the real world and the fiction. So, If I rated something this high, it means it's not only affected me in the personal matter but changed the way I look at other media myself or even myself.
If you find a score unfair or just strange, let me know. As practice shows, I may be wrong.
Right now, I really like to change the tenth place in My Favorites anime's section, based on my mood. Primarily, I put there anything that I found lovable and had a great time watching. it will change once I find another Gem for me.
For many years, I thought that I must rate anything I watch only objectively. I was looking at one infamous streamer, that has an enormous list of films watched. He always talks about himself as one of the most objective people, and as a teenager I subconsciously wanted to be like him. But right now, I can see that, in fact, he is quite the opposite. :)
So, I think that the most proper thing for someone like me - who have watched to little anime - would be to rate things based on the personal enjoyment, with a tad bit of objectiveness.
It's not the final version, I'll add more info as the time goes and I watch more anime.
BAD: 1 - Total cancer. 2 - Bad. 3 - Mostly bad, but it had some fine elements. 4 - Has some good things, but there are many negative elements OR it was just not my thing.
Controversial: 5 - I didn't understand it; I got filtered; It was great and I saw a pig potential, but it flopped. I have a note for them in my list, so that I could explain my problems with it.
Good: 6 - I like it, I enjoyed it. There may even be one thing I'm absolutely in love with (SoreMachi :) ), but I just can't give it a higher score. That would be unfair in my eyes. 7 - I always saw this score as something beautiful, charming. So when I rate something this high, I think it's definitely good, but something stopped me from loving it.
My favorites: 8 - This score is already better than most of the media I have seen. I love them. All 8's have a soul and I could feel it through the screen.
9 - They are one of the best. I love them, no doubt, and I think they are pretty perfect stories. But they just weren't the kind of stories that had a profound effect on my heart.
10 - The best of the best. Memorable, compelling, beautiful and powerful stories that touched my heart. Even though I remember them almost completely, I still want to watch them again from time to time. For me, all 10's surpassed perfection.
I say it's special to me is because I watched The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya when it first aired. I was very young around that time. It's also one of the first anime I've seen ^.^
When it comes to light novels, it hard to come across translations. So I normally read fan-made ones and pirate them. As for a manga that has mono no aware, you should read Yokohama Kaidashi Kikou. It's the utmost-perfect depiction of mono no aware. A story about people that lost so much that they stopped taking anything for granted and started cherishing the entities the world has left. With its masterful art, atmosphere, and writing, it helps you cherish them too. It makes you treasure life, the characters', and yourself. Methodical, somber, endearing, assiduous, and above all, ethereal.
Thank you!
I was simply trying to explain how I rate things and feel about ratings overall. Glad to see Boogiepop and The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya in your favs. Boogie is underrated while Haruhi holds a special place in my heart <3
i have some volumes of kino no tabi in my collection ,but i am still trying to find time to make up the stuff, thank you for recommendation ,i will add it to my plan to watch ,and will let you know what i think when i will finish it.
holy fuck i just read it all. I think I need to rewatch the original series now, its been 2 years and i havent rewatched it, its only the movie that ive rewatched.
i only rewatched the movie for the 3rd time like 2 days ago, but now i want to rewatch it again, that movie is so important to me, its so incredibly well built. Yknow what i think makes Eva so special? Anno never planned it, it was built from episode 1, episode by episode, apparently episode 5 didnt even have a story when episode 4 was airing to the public, so in reality, what could've been just another Gundam, ended up reflecting the hardships of man, Anno himself, wrote what happened around him, and wrote his heart into the script. Eventually when the rewards came, he produced the best movie ever made in human history, The End of Eva, which really sends home the message of Evangelion to me.
To me the movie was reminding me, that the entire show was constantly screaming at me to get my life together, I'd look at Shinji and think "CMON Shinji, all of this shit that you cant explain, fix it, solve it", constantly all the time I would say this. The IRL sequence is probably the most into it that it gets, its literally a reflection of where you are watching the film, and a commentary designed to directly confront the viewer. Then, when it gets to the very end of the movie, and the world has ended, and theres nobody but him and Asuka, im still thinking to myself, in all of the hopelessness that is present "Shinji, how can you fix it? You need to fix it", unbeknownst to me, the movie was about to end after i got called disgusting. I'm now staring at a black screen, facing my reflection, my sorry, sad, regretful face, covered in tears and snot, thinking to myself "Fix all of this shit, you disgusting useless human."

I'm talking to myself. Not shinji.
I'm so happy this movie meant so much to you.
