Believe it or not, but even the manga had panels that were censored by the editors at Weekly Shonen Jump for being too violent, during the Chimera Ant arc. I've never seen anything like it.

I prefer the look and feel of HxH 1999. I like the leisurely pacing of the 1999 version, compared to the fast-paced 2011 version. I like the tone and atmosphere, which shows that HxH is a dark adventure series. I prefer the 1999 version's soundtrack. I think most of the character designs look better in the 1999 version. I think all the arcs (except the Heaven's Arena arc) are better in the 1999 version. I'm also not a fan of the Chimera Ant arc.

I see that you only recently started HxH 2011. What do you think of it so far?

Haha, it's a song lyric! :)
My profile avatar is Aiko Tanaka from the manga Oyasumi Punpun. It's a really amazing manga and she's one of my favorite characters!

The two inherent flaws with the Sibly system that you have mentioned lead to 'False Positives'. As long as there was even a 0.001% chance of convicting the wrong person, that was still too much. A 0.001% chance may not give any false judgments if you apply the test on 100 people, but if you go up to 1000, then you'll have 1 innocent person who's convicted. And of course no city has 1000 people; the population is usually in the millions and since the Sibyl system was applied to the whole country, it at least, on average, convicted thousands of people wrongly. Thereby, Sibyl system is quantitatively wrong.

Ideas like the Sibly System arise when people have the wrong concept about crimes and justice. You cannot stop a crime that hasn't happened; if you try to do so, you'll have an inherently flawed justice system. Likewise, if you support rehabilitation over punishment then that'll also defeat the point of having the notion of 'crimes'. A society where all criminals are sent to rehab cannot be stable because everyone knows that they'll get rehab anyway; and it is very much true that the only thing stopping most people from committing crimes is the idea of punishment. So, basically, crime is only an 'act'. It cannot be confined to a 'thought' even if that thought is 100% conducive to leading the subject to commit the crime. And justice should merely be there to punish people as per their crimes.

Considering all that, the entire idea behind Sibyl System was wrong and quite frankly, no one in the show had the right idea to solve the problem. Makishima recognized the limiting capabilities of the Sibyl System -- because, to be fair, most of the time it is through defying authority that we achieve valuable innovation -- but failed to see the real problem and so was unable to do anything about it in a more reasonable manner. While Akane merely suffered from cognitive dissonance. And I don't even remember what Kogami was all about.

Yes, you are fine with just watching the first season. The second season will only give you LESS closure if anything.

In my opinion it's a matter of maturity rather than age.

Just once and soon after its release, but I have read it. You have to take into consideration that it is not the manga, it's just based on it and we don't know to what extend they will stick to the original novel. I was reviewing the anime and as I have tried to express I am happy that this show will continue. The occasional usage of CGI animation does not bother me. It is clear that they have tried to satisfy everyone. They put a bit of plot from the manga into it, but mainly they showed that this show will contain gore and a lots of fighting. I think they have set the atmosphere pretty well, even the comment that Guts made after the girl with the monk got killed because of him was a very good way to show how much he had changed. But this is only my opinion, if you have your own I recommend you to express it as well. You will get lots of trolls massages, but usually someone tries to have a serious discussion, which may end up being interesting.
It’s time to ditch the text file.
