I checked out your blog, the character designs and the aliens aka "scourge" looks pretty cool. Did you ever get around to releasing a chapter?

Seems like I need to give "Noein" a shot then. Sound pretty damn interesting.

Can't say I like the Lupin movies (don't really know why... I just don't :P), but "Castle in the Sky"... How come I never watched that!? Seriously, that's one of the all time classics a real anime fan should watch. That, and "Spirited Away".
Jonijonh May 12, 2012 7:55 AM
Seen any good ones... Meh, not really. Fate / Zero 2 is pretty good, but I expected that. Other than that, I recently finished "Steins;Gate" which I loved and became obsessed with :P. I also completed "Mirai Nikki" which is pretty good as well.

How about "Noein"? What's that about?

You know, just chillin', watching some animes. What about you?

Ah, I know of Berserk, althouth I never read it. But it's kind of annoying when such manga are on a monthly magazine and are released every 2 months or every 3 months. Of course lately Japan has been dealing with the aftermath of that awful earthquake, so that is understandable.

We talked a while ago about upcoming anime we're going to watch. I forgot one (technically it already aired, but I'm waiting on the fansub :P): Hoshi wo Ou Kodomo. It's from Makoto Shinkai-sensei, the mastermind behind 5 Centimetres per Second, Voices of a Distant Star and the Place Promised in Our Early Days, all of which I loved. Do you have any specific movie you're looking forward to?
Jonijonh Jun 18, 2011 1:26 AM
Hehehhe, you would do well to wait for the manga to finish...The rate it's coming out is purely annoying! It should be monthly, but it's more of a bi-monthly release :/

Still... It's worth it, somewhat... xD

I finished HotD and then went on to read the manga because I couldn't get enough of the story... Well I did that, just to find the manga riddled with fanservice at every corner as well. Still, I will continue to read it because the story is pretty good (I'm a fan of "Zombie Apocalypse" stuff :P).

Good Art Style + Dark Themes = Gold for me. I'll definitely try it out, since you recommend it ;)

Bones is a pretty good studio yes. I had forgotten they were the geniuses behind FMA, which I loved :P
And Darker than Black too of course. Even though the follows ups were really weird... I would have preferred if the story had just ended with DTB1, to be honest. I also really love Sci-Fi, but when it comes to these shows it either a hit or miss. There's no middle ground. For instance, you know "Highschool of the Dead" right? That show would have been great, if not for the constant ecchi...

Kaiba... I think I have that on my Plant to Watch list. I have to give it a try ;)

Yeah, "The Path of the Otaku" is sort of like my personal Samurai Code of Honour xD
They have their "Bushido" I have my "Otakuness" xDD

I don't look forward to certain projects based on their studios (except Shaft and KyoAni, I love them :P), but more on the overall appearance that they have - trailer, synopse, etc... I'm a bit of an "anime whore" as you've probably noticed - I tend to watch most shows of a given season xD
Jonijonh Jun 9, 2011 11:54 AM
Yeah Portugal is not very acceptive of anime right now, but it might change. Of course we have fans here too (me for instance xD), and more and more are becoming "otaku", so I think we're on the right path.

I too hope Ao no Exorcist gets better, but I just don't see that happening to be honest. It's a 25 episode show, so, who knows? By the way, there seems to be a lot of 20+ episode shows this season... Weird...

For the next half year I'm looking forward to "Working 2", "Kizumonogatari", "Baka Test 2" and a lot more OVAs and Specials ;) - How about you??

Ahahaha, WyattEarp is very badass, no wonder you use it as your username! My name in comparison is boring as hell: "John". Most plain name ever... By the way, I misspelled it on purpose on my username... Sort of an inside joke xD

I am watching Blue Exorcist :P
I tend to watch most anime of a given season, though this one has so many shows, I had to drop some. But yes it is good, but not very good. I feels like the latest episodes have been kind of boring, in comparison with the first 3; I hope it picks back up in the future.

Black Rock Shooter was not a good experience for me. Didn't like it all that much. For that theme, Ga-Rei Zero is miles ahead. Much better. As for conventions, we do have some, and one of them is quite close to where I live, and it's called "Iberanime". It's pretty popular, but in no way as much as, say, the UK or Canada. Portugal stills thinks anime = shows for kids, so... Yeah xD
Jonijonh May 21, 2011 1:44 AM
Yeah, MAL likes to "play" with people like that... I've written scores of awesome messages that didn't get sent, and then I had to write them all over again...

Yes, FMA was amazing. Equivalent exchange is something worth thinking about. Especially since it's such a clear-cut concept: you want something, you give something else of equal value in return. Now, if it's a realistic concept I do not know, but it might be :P

Recently I've watched Ga-Rei Zero which I found to be quite epic, with a storyline somewhat similar to Madoka Magica, but perhaps more close to BlackRock Shooter, when it comes to friendship. I heartily recommend Ga-Rei Zero to anyone ;D

Hehe, a couple of days ago I went to the cinema and, in some trailer, the name Wyatt Earp was mencioned, and they referred that it was this awesome cowboy back in the day, and I was like "Oh yeah, I know a guy that taught me that" xD
Jonijonh Apr 30, 2011 4:24 AM
Hi there! How are you doing? :P

So, I read your profile and I noticed you like anime with "complex underlying messages and hidden meanings". So I was wondering what were the best anime you've ever watched in that regard? I don't know if it fits, but I loved the lessons taught by Code Geass, some parts of FMA were also very rich in that sense, and besides that I would applaud Darker than Black for their subtle messages hidden in their storyline.

I think I'm a lot like you in this regard: I too love anime with meaningful things to them, epic stories that just make you go "OMG, that was amazing!".
Jonijonh Apr 27, 2011 3:58 AM
Hehe, yeah, not that many people were fooled by Madoka Magica's director. I mean, it's Shaft for god sakes, how could it ever be an innocent majou shoujo anime? As for Madoka, I get why she's your favourite... In a way, she and Homura are very much alike - they are both very brave, and unwilling to give up on their beliefs or the people they care about. Homura was fighting through all those timelines just to save Madoka, while Madoka "sacrificed" herself in the end to restore hope and cull despair. I just love these kind of anime, those that teach something, and make you think about your own life, and the world around you.

I'll bet your girlfriend was here last December because of Christmas , am I right? :P
But I have to say, Anime is still pretty much a taboo over here. Not that many people watch it, and the majority of those that do are fixated on the "big" ones - "Naruto", "One Piece", "Dragon Ball" etc... Not that these are bad shows, but people over here have the wrong definition of what anime is all about.

Anyway, sorry about the long wall of text, but as you may (or may not) have noticed, I tend to write long dissertations when the subject is exciting for me ;D
It’s time to ditch the text file.
