Yeh. I've tried a lot of genres by now, and I'm pretty convinced school rom-com stuff just isn't my thing. I'll still try Toradora subbed to see if it makes much of a difference, though.

If you're looking for the water to not be cloudy, watch Strike Witches. There is plenty of that ecchi stuff there.

I've tried that show, but I'm not much of a fan. It just looked like your typical ecchi power fantasy. I've tried and watched a good amount of ero shows, but I'm generally not too crazy about them. I see you're loving Kiss x Sis, though. Good for you.

Right. I've also noticed a trend that those who like GUP also often have similar likes. Maybe the right word for it is "fantastic," but a lot of my top shows are not about magic or the supernatural but sci-fi and drama. I'd also actually say Steins;Gate was the first to hit my buttons the same way as Toradora did for you. I felt the same thing, "I feel physically wounded when I've finished the last episode," when I finished Steins;Gate. But, Steins;Gate has since fallen out of my favor, while GUP has remained at the top. It has stood the test of time, so it means a good bit more to me than the average series.

In the case of Toradora, I've been passing this judgement after I've finished episode 8: the pool episode. True, I did change my rating of it from a 4/10 to 5/10, but it's still a really hard sell for me. I have been watching it dubbed, so maybe I'll watch it subbed now to see if it really makes all that much of a difference.

I have tried Eureka Seven on recommendation from a friend. The mechs and surfing are awesome, but again I really don't care much for the romance, and it's pretty heavy in that show.

I too am an engineer, and I couldn't have cared less about occasionally pushing the boundaries with the physics. Your mention of engineering it what prompted me to comment in the first place. I wouldn't have bothered otherwise, since you still praised the series. For me, it's such an easy thing to overlook by simple suspension of disbelief, if you really needed it, because of the sheer enjoyment I got out watching these ridiculous things.

Yeh, I've commented/spoken to a lot of people on Toradora to get their takes on it, and I hear just about the same thing every time. I really could not care less about the romance, so it was a losing battle with me from the start. And, Taiga, f' me with her behavior. I don't care if her development does an entire 180, she's irritating, and she's the main character. I feel I'll just need to suck it up and finish this show to rightfully pass judgement on it, since this thing is apparently such an utter phenome. I still genuinely feel it will end up like Evangelion with me in that I will ultimately be correct in my initial feels - that being that I didn't and won't like it.

I just finished reading your review on Ribbon no Musha. A shame that a little slight-of-hand with friction and gravity (physics) detracted from the enjoyment of the series for you. You at least gave the manga a 9/10, so respect for that.

Since I happened to see it, what in the world makes you think Toradora deserves a 10/10? I understand people having different tastes, but a rating that high seems like a bit much.
