Assimilation would be hard for anybody though, you know? You can't beat yourself up too bad about that; we're only human after all, as cliche as it sounds. It will always happen to anyone, otherwise we wouldn't be our own identity/individual/selves. You say that you still feel like a kid, but here you are in a whole 'nother country, doing things only some people dream of or don't have the willpower and determination to do.

I think I can try and understand what you're getting at. But on the flipside, you'd probably be able to feel "less homesick" if you were fluent in the language, do you think, maybe? Are you taking courses or have bought any books/audiobooks (perhaps both) to try and help you learn more? Man.. you and I both. The US education system leaves much to be desired. It really is just a crazy dystopian patriotic facility, where you learn to slave away and then eventually die.

I'm actually sure you probably have learnt so much though, spending that time overseas. Must have opened your eyes to some things back at home.
