The 1988 110 ep OVA is the best place to start. It's a full length show which encompasses the stories of all its individual characters.

You can see the 2017 ver but that's just a remake of the original. While the gaiden movies just seem to expand on the past of the characters.

It has been years since the project was announced to air. Do you know why it never did? One of the directors for Lain unfortunately died of pancreatic cancer. One of the writers confirmed that it will air though, I don't know the details.

yeah logh is certainly a task compared to yamato 2202. id ease into things with yamato 2202 and then use the space hype from that for logh, otherwise go straight for it haha
