Of coarse I would had the answers ready if I was making the quiz:)
As for your 4 I think I seen people loathing over Char. But if you say it's the same thing how people treat Griffith as a ''hero'' despite the the stuff that weren't so ''heroic''. I guess those people are the type to say Char did nothing wrong even know he tried to drop axis to the earth.
Besides that I agree that people take Gigguk words too seriously. Thanks to him a hole bunch of people believed that ''Mecha is Dead'' when there still new Mecha anime's coming out.
Through the state of Mecha in the 2010s was more like stagnation than being dead, there weren't a lot of Mecha anime but they were still being released anyway. Now in the 2020s there are a lot new mecha series that been released and new anime's coming out this year.
2 of my answer is something I'll never understand. Why do people hate Mecha anime so much? Like I get that not everybody would be into of Mecha but do they really have to hate it so much? That's like me hating on Isekai i don't watch Isekai nor I'm into of that, but should I hate it? Of coarse not, besides the most popular Mecha series are the only ''good ones'' they say. The Mecha genre is one of most hated genre I have seen other than Isekai.
The 3 of my answer, your right about that people cope the idea that Evangelion is not Mecha anime. Although the answer I made was more in relation to people thinking the Eva Units themselves not being mechs as they living beings. Even though they ignoring the fact that they cyborgs which obviously means that they have mechanical parts other wise they can't pilot it. Plus Hideaki Anno said in an interview that Evangelion is a Mecha anime. So if you somehow encounter these type of people, use these two facts and give them the classic good ol Bright Slap.
4 are probably the most annoying type other than the hating Mecha group. Obviously these lack the imagination of seeing cool giant robots. Especially they worst to talk to if they see there precious tanks getting annihilated by the far superior Mecha. Like I remember encountering them on the comment section of the video mech vs tank from Gasaraki. And as you could imagine a lot of tank fans were saying stuff like: This outrageous! There's no way that those tanks just lost! Or the writers clearly don't know how tanks work. They say stuff like that and naturally they look down on anything Mecha related. Besides the only things these guys like are either playing War Thunder of watching Girls and Panzer.
Number 5 is one that would trigger any Mecha fan around the world. Through I'm not trigger by this as I once was. I was however triggered when BBC said the RX-0 Unicorn Gundam as a Transformer without doing any research before making that post on Twitter. And you probably know the results of it. But besides that i can understand why as Mecha isn't popular around the world (especially the U.S.) as they are in Japan. Which is all ways funny to see the News calling the RX-78-2 Gundam as a transformer through other countries gave it different names (Megazord, Jaeger, etc) even in Mexico the people there called the Gundam as Mazinger Z.
Thank you for answering my quiz and as a bonus here's a video I watch a while ago:
That's some good answers I see! not what I expected but very interesting answers indeed. I'm just going to try to guess what your answer's may refer to like:
1. Red-Haired tsunderes = Asuka (Evangelion)
2. Child soldiers = Basically most Gundam series
3. Child death = That one scene from Ideon
4. Immortality framed as virtuousness = ??? (I think heard something like that somewhere)
5. Style over substance= ??? (Unfortunately I never heard of the phase so I'm unable to guess)
While I was unable to guess the last two you did put out good answers, so here the answers to my quiz!
1. Mecha anime is dead - Gigguk
2. ''I hate all Mecha anime expect for Gurren Lagann, Code Geass, and Evangelion''
3. Evangelion is not a Mecha anime
4. Ew, Mechs are so unrealistic and impractical. That's why tanks are way better duh.
5. ''Yo it's a Transformer!'' to any mech you can think of
Well that's the answers to my quiz and what do you think of the answers my friend?
Hello! We meet again. I'm here today to give a fun little quiz. The quiz being: Name 5 things to trigger a Mecha Fan. Just think of anything and I'll give the answers after you respond. Ready Set Go!
yooo I was actually about to send you a random VM when I noticed we had both recently started Dr. Slump around the same time, then I saw the notif that you quoted me in that YYH thread haha.
you wanna be my new mal-buddy?
While It isn't my favorite 80s anime ova (that goes to MegaZone 23) but I did had a good time watching. I haven't seen the sequels yet and but I been planning on watching them sometime in the future:)
It would be interesting to see Born Free be remake in the modern day. Through I think if they did remake it, i feel like they probably remake it into a fully CGI anime like the Ultraman anime in Netflix. But then a again Gridman had some live action shots, so it may not be the case. Of course that's if it got a remake, considering how obscure it is it's unlikely it would have. Maybe a spiritual successor that takes influence of Dinosaur Expedition Born Free.
So I discovered Getter Robo through a YouTube video called Believe in Getter by CheeseGX. It mainly talks about the history of the franchise and when it show a clip of Armageddon it got me interested. So i stopped the video there watched the series on YouTube and from there I become a fan of Getter Robo. Not only I got into of Getter Robo but super robot anime as a whole since the only mech show I watched was Gundam so it kind like a breath of fresh air.
Currently I have almost finished all the Getter Robo anime's (I have read the original Getter Robo saga) the only one's I haven't finished is Getter Robo Go, and the Mazinger Crossover movies but that would be after I finished watching the 70s Mazinger Trilogy (Mazinger Z, Great Mazinger, and Grendizer).
Probably unrelated but in the forum I made, you mention Dinosaur Expedition Born Free, I was actually surprised you talked about it. Not because I watched it or anything like that, but because I remember watching the opening from a video called ''My Top 290 retro Mecha Anime Openings Pre-2000s'' and when I saw the opening my reaction was basically ''um this looks kinda of weird''. And from what you described it, I could see it not being a good show especially since they were trying to combine both live action and anime into one show, which I say why?
If it came out today it probably wouldn't look that bad with the technology we have now, but back then obvious not. They probably be better off doing tokusatsu or instead being an actual anime!
Amazing! Yeah to think that the original Kinnikuman manga is still ongoing is crazy awesome, lol
I see, so Nisei is a whole another continuity... it makes sense cause it has its own manga and it is already finished, so I guess you don't necessarily need to watch it to enjoy this upcoming anime. It's a real shame that there is no one subbing it, though.
I believe the same fansub that is doing the 83 anime will start Nisei after finishing the original series and its last movie (they already subbed the first episode actually), but it will take a long time since they only release one episode per month.
Anyways, it's great to have a friend with such a refined taste for shounen haha. Keep rocking!!
Nice, I'll definitely read the manga at some point (I already have it downloaded, lol), gotta say it became one of my favorites already. I'm watching all the movies and specials and they are pretty funny also, but I wanna focus on the canon material in the future.
The 83 anime is not yet fully subbed as far as I know, but I believe they could finish it this year and there is a a movie from the classic era yet to be subbed. I have "acquired" some the follow ups, including all subbed episodes of Scramble For The Throne.
Unfortunately there is no subbed version for Kinnikuman II Sei, only dubbed (that I know of). I'll probably stay with the manga in this one.
Very excited for the show coming this year, but will it be a continuation or a reboot? I might have to finish all the old material before watching it.
I'm definitely on it. I've read probably 3 volumes in the time it would take me to watch two episodes.... mostly because I agonized a lot about watching episodes lol. But I'm liking the manga WAY more than I ever liked the anime!
Yep I certainly did:) it was a pretty good anime with great animation for a early 2000s tv anime. I enjoyed the characters and the story, especially since I like seeing stories where the robot become more human as their series goes on is an interesting thing to watchin my opinion. And finally I like the characters design as they were done by manga artist Shotaro Ishinomori (well know for his manga cyborg 009). Now while like I said before, I'm not exactly good at review shows I watched but I can say that i 100% enjoyed it:)

I see that you have Kinnikuman in your favorites, nice! I'm currently watching the original anime.
I think I should checkout the sequel ova later.
