Whoa. That Akira x Nausica recc was nice.

Hi. Read your two reviews just now. Each covers the main points for each text well. Though with a little incoherence of grammar and spelling issues. At core though, they're quite good.
I feel like maybe you could try elaborate on some ideas, like your description of art in Travel was essentially correct, but related little of its meaning to you or overall significance.

I see you read manga that is either artistically or contextually valuable, at least at a modicum above the norm, that is nice.

I'd like to see you review more things in the future.

-uh now having read your intro-
uhmmm.

I am also into critical film study, so maybe we could discuss that. I appreciate Tarkovsky on that short list. I would haphazardly recommend some Kiyoshi Kurosawa.

Akira and Nausica are nothing alike. Sure they may have good writing, but other than that they are far apart. btw Taiyo Matsumoto already surpassed both Akira and Nausica with Tekkon Kinkreet.

Hey man. I love your profile picture, is that from a comic or something?

hey! My apologies for taking so long again to come back to you... This time, I actually have an excuse. The thing was, I'm not sure if I mentioned it to you before, but I moved out from my mother's place to the city, an apartement where I'm now living solo. The thing is, for these first weeks, I hadn't any internet, and after some complication, I finally got it.

Just to let you know that I'm to reply to you in the next couple of days. Hope everything's fine!

cheers

I finally got to reading Sandman. You were right, it is one of the greatest graphic novels of all time. I've only read the first 3 TPB volumes though.

I also started reading Promethea around the same time as Sandman, but I could not stand its didactic nature. They share similar themes, such as the notion of ideas existing in a realm separate from physical reality (like a metaphysical reality), but Promethea sort of shoves it in your face and goes off into long lectures about it... Still, I recommend checking out Promethea if you liked Sandman because you may like it.

Hello there!
I hope you had a good new years eve! I'm embarresed on how long I took to reply to you again, still I believe it's better late then never. I'm really curious on how you're doing, and what you've been doing in your "gap year". I hope you're enjoying it. Have you already decided were you're taking
of? Have you picked any of the new languages (Mandarin, French...) or dropped it? As for me I'm back in university, since september. And I'm studying "classic studies". That is, Classical Greek and Latin, Roman and Greek cultures, history, and their literature. Right now, I'm at the end of the semester, just a week from the exams. And, to be honest, I'm loving what I'm studying. It's quite a hard course, and you're bound to study most of your freetime, but it's fabulous. I never studied with so much joy. And, due to my ease in studying, I'm able to manage my time, to still have some to spend with my friends. I simply quit watching tv, and dwelling on the internet. Now I realize how much time I used to waste. Now, instead of it I study or read (since my class demand a lot of it). But to me, to read the ancient classics is a bless. The main flaw of the course, is that it gives not many oppurtunities for a future job. To be honest, I don't have clue what my job could be. Though, I know I want to do a Masters after the bachelor. As for what will happen next, I'll just let the future unfould itself before me. I hope I might get lucky. I would enjoy being a creative writer, but I don't have the wits for doing it for a living, so maybe I'll manage to do that for a hobby. Also my elected language when I write is English (I sort of despise my mother tongues). And thus I know I can't really get anywhere with my poor English. Anyway, since I became used to read literature (I can't really say I'd before), and took the chance to read some extra literature, just for fun, and hopefully to improve my English. On the other half, I must say I sort of dropped manga, and anime, although the latter I'd already dropped it long ago. It's not that I don't enjoy it, or undervalue it, it's just that I prefer reading some literature. Still, I'll carry on with it, only not as enthusastic as before. My next buy, and first in the last 12 months, buy will be, for instance, Thermae romae, that is coming out in French next March. Of course, i'm extremely interested on it due to the nature of my studies, but nevertheless, I miss reading a manga. And since I mentioned the French, I'm really keen on picking it up again. I noticed that my French really sunk when I read a couple of months ago Camus' Mythe du Sisyphe, for a paper in class. So I decided to enroll in French class next semester, at my university, since it's free. I also picked up a couple of days ago a French novel, Les Bienveillantes (The Kindly Ones, in its english translation) by Jonathan Littell. In spite of all the hype, it won the renowned Goncourt Prix, it's not really a masterpiece. the style is rather dull (althought that I might be biased since come from James' tremendous style, in Portrait of a Lady). Nevertheless, it's rather interesting (I'm too early on to judge it on detail, being it an 1400 page long epic). But, it made me notice, how much I enjoy reading if French. So I'm really excited on improving it. Lastly I booked a flight to Paris, and going to stay there for 5 short days in February. I hope the class helps me improve my French, as one of my goals for this year is to read Proust's A la recherché du temps perdu. I also plan to take some italian class next academic year, since I would like to do my Erasmus there. As for Asian languages, I would opt for Japanese, and Nepalese. I would love to do a volunteer in Nepal soon, but it's really expensive the flight. Sorry again for my dismissive attitude when it comes to reply, but I'ld be really keen on hearing from you soon, and I'll promise, I try my best on replying you soon!

PS Sorry for the mess in which this reply ended up, and ignore all the slips, I'm really tired, and I can't manage to write properly. I hope it's still readable.
It’s time to ditch the text file.
