the first reader's route is definitely what i am using currently, and i find it pretty convenient. although reading random vocabulary without knowing its original individual kanji could be a little disturbing, however i guess that will be settled throughout experience.
either way, it seems you spent quite a while writing such a detailed explanation for someone who popped up randomly asking advice. really, thank you for the clear answer it did help me set up my mind!

herro!
i stumbled upon your blog post about learning Japanese while looking up some tips. since you're pretty experienced in language mind if ask you some advice specifically about kanji?

an answer would be really helful^^

I can kind of understand that. It usually takes me ages to finish a VN (White Album 2 took me 5 months to finish although it was really long[4mb of a script]). But even if there was a translation of something I wanted to read I would avoid it because reading JP VNs is also practice for the language and translations usually get it wrong.

I'm currently playing Mahoutsukai no Yoru by Type-Moon. Like you'd expect from Type-Moon it has interesting characters, great music and very good special effects for the battles.

Also, FF7 remake. Hype.

Yup, I used to spurge about MLA ages ago. I was going through my MAL friends list and saw your name so I thought I'd send you a message.

Yes I'm good and I'm still playing VNs these days. I got sick of waiting for crappy translations so I began learning Japanese a year and a half ago. What about you, still reading eroge?

Hey, remember me? Hows it going man?

Thank you.
I'll give Cartagra and Kara no Shoujo a try.

I read it. ^^"
Sorry, it was my fault for not linking my vndb account from the beginning.
Here is my vndb list: https://vndb.org/u47256/list

I did play Sharin no Kuni already and really liked it, but still, thank you. :)
Rosaryn May 31, 2015 10:36 AM
Hello. :)
I've seen you're quite on date with the vn updates. Could you maybe recommend me, someone who hasn't played vns since a year, a visual novel like Sharin no Kuni?

Honestly, that is one of my bigger motivations, as well as playing some JRPG's that don't get ported to the west for whatever reason. Yeah, its one of those things that is hard for me to stick with because its not something you're going to get immediate results with and with my limited attention span, i have a hard time keeping up with some things for a week, not to mention something that i'll probably have to keep up for a year or more before seeing any kind of substantial results.

But thanks for the quick response. I'll probably go through some exercises on a daily basis and try my best to wring out the motivation to continue on with it.

Hey, its been a while. I just wanted to let you know that looking at your profile kind of re-affirmed my desire to get back into studying japanese. A while back i had kind of half-assed my way through some Hirigana and i ended up stopping for other things. I was just curious on what resources you went through to learn, and what kind of experience you had going through it. Its hard to find the motivation to go through, even though its something i know i'll find use of later on, its just that i've always kind of struggled with languages in general.
