I don't mind Shaft's style, I mind it when it seems the animators are more interested in going "Hey look at these visuals" than moving the story forward. Otherwise, good or bad animation doesn't make me like a show more or less.

I didn't say that Monogatari's use of these cliches was a flaw. I specifically said the story even adds more dimensions to these characters, just that in spite of this, I didn't find them really that much more interesting.

I really think S1 showed a lot of potential, they handled the OST and direction very good, considering what this adaptation is, so if they only improve from here, and don't fuck it up, the sequels should be more loved by everyone, now definitely at a slower pacing.

I have seen MLA S1 some weeks ago, way better than most fans want you to think as.
Really far from bad, above most average trash that airs every season.
