Like many of you, I love anime and manga. I am also a free lance graphic novel illustrator. I have ambitions to publish manga and teach comic art and theory. I am in love with the art of storytelling. Anime and manga have become the vessel that I have chosen to facilitate my need for good storytelling, or at the very least a distraction from the real world by means of sympathetic characters, absorbing plots and atmospheric environments. I watch TV show, movies, theater, read books and comics and love music. I guess you can say I'm a mediaphile to the extent that I love all forms of media that tell a story to the point of being a very addicted escapist. And in my time my requirement for quality has become more potent. With that search, the number of media that I have consumed is staggering and continues to grow.
"I am the cynic of our golden age. This bounteous dish, which our great Charles and our great God have more or less in equal measure placed before us, sets my teeth permanently on edge. Life has no purpose. It is everywhere undone by arbitrariness. I do this and it matters not a jot if I do the opposite. But in the playhouse every action, good or bad, has it's consequences. Drop a handkerchief and it will return to smother you. The theatre is my drug. And my illness is so far advanced that my physic must be of the highest quality."
-John Wilmot, 2nd Earl of Rochester
To that respect, I look at anime and manga from a very critical point of view. I don't mean to, it just sort of happens that way. I love this media and I love what it has to offer. As a graphic novel illsutratior, indulging in the media fills me with much hope and eagerness. (G) Edition said it best~ Slave to the black and white drawing, in both body and soul.

Have you been studying Japanese too and what do you love most about Rahxephon?
I think that you should check out Gatekeepers and Solty Rei seeing that you like some sci-fi anime.
