with laughable animation and people forgave it because it has "steins gate" in the title and that made them not use any critical thinking when they were watching it.
First of all, we're (or at least I am) living in 2021 where the bluray version of steins gate 0 exists which basically fixed everything bad about the animation of 0, so the argument that 0 has laughable animation kinda died a long time ago. It's like the argument that the final season of AoT has bad animation because of cgi titans when MAPPA went out and fixed those issues with a bluray release literally months after it aired. Second of all, who are you to assume that everyone who liked 0 just "forgave it because it has steins gate in the title and that made them not use any critical thinking when they were watching it". Are you kidding me? There are lots (and if you see steins gate overall rating it clearly shows) of steins gate fans that loved the original while still liking 0. Are you going to argue that they're just braindead fans when I've seen 0 fans argue with its haters and actually giving great explanations as to why 0 is a great show and is a much needed sequel. Have you even wondered that maybe, just maybe 0 is actually a good midquel to steins gate that further expands the lore of steins gate and is generally a great addition? Judging from you comments, you never stopped to think about that and just watched 0 with some preconceived notion that its just another "cashgrab" piggybacking off a great franchise, It's also never a good idea to argue with the basis of a heavily misleading assumptions that a certain group of people are just brainless fans which will gobble up anything related to a show when steins gate has some of the most critical fans in the whole anime community. If it was truly bad, the fans would've destroyed it immediately and the ratings would've completely tanked like what happened with s1 of magia record, a series attached to a massive franchise that failed to live up to fans expectations (at least if you've only watched s1) and completely tanked in terms of ranking. The fact that 0 still has such high rating (top 100 in fact) and didn't end up like magia record s1 is a testament of its quality by itself.

Yeah right. Steins gate 0 is based of a VN that shouldn't have existed and was made as a cashgrab to lure steins gate fans in. How original, such braindead arguments to discredit every spinoff of popular media and franchise. Steins gate 0 exist to fix a plothole in the original series while exploring a reality where okabe failed and kurisu dies. It's a necessary midquel if you want to understand the entirety of steins gate lore. Doesn't seem like something that shouldn't exist after I pointed that out huh
