hi want to be friends
pokemastanumba1 May 18, 2016 9:06 PM
Wait, what?

Actually, message me about it. Because I've heard about the Wayland scandal at Anime Boston last year, but most of the other things he's brought up seem really fishy to me...
pokemastanumba1 May 12, 2016 10:09 PM
Backwards compatibility is indeed a legitimate concern about the PS4, and possibly the NX if certain rumors are true; hell, the Xbox One of all things has it now.

As for the Pokémon dub, I haven't watched it in a while, though I've heard about some behind-the-scenes drama; of course, a certain infamous someone you mentioned earlier happy about it and obsessed with how "corrupt" and "unprofessional" TPCi and the current cast members are (thank god he's banned permanently and shut down his dA).
pokemastanumba1 May 5, 2016 10:59 PM
I actually think some of the background music in the dub is very well-composed; it's usually just either misplaced or doesn't capture the same feeling as the BGM used in the Japanese version. The dub intros in general royally suck, though I like the three Johto themes, Advanced Battle, and Galactic Battles best.

As for gaming, I think the PS4 is the best bet. Xbox One is still crap (though not nearly as much back when it first released), and the Wii U is already going to be replaced in only ten months (unless the NX doesn't have backwards compatibility).

I thought the ME specials were four of the best Pokémon episodes ever...the only real flaws I see with them is Charizard glorification (why couldn't Alain have a different mega?), replacement of the original Japanese BGM (in the English dub), and only being four episodes (when it could easily be its own series). :-/

While I haven't watched the main series for a while, I'm definitely looking forward to more Alain action in XY&Z once I've caught up with all the episodes. :-D

Curious, what video games have you recently played, and are playing right now?

Yeah, whenever you wanna try playing a few games let me know. I usually have plenty of free time. You can message me through the Steam friends list (I'm pretty much always logged in but if I'm away then I may not be at my computer). You can get to it by right clicking steam on your taskbar and choosing friends.

Or if there's another way that is easier for you to contact me with you can let me know and I'll see if its something I use. I do have Skype now even though I really don't like the program (don't care for the interface). So I'm not always logged into it. I mainly only use it for voice chat when I play certain games with my friends. I'll try leaving it on more often if you'd prefer Skype. I can be found by my old email address which I'll PM you. Once we actually get a game going there's and easy to use in-game chat box.

I know our time zones are pretty different too. As of this message it's 11:30 AM over here. I'm generally available most days. When I have work its usually early in the morning and I'm rarely still at work later then 10-11AM. I'm usually back by that point. Lately I haven't been staying up past 10-11PM my time especially if I work the next day.

Hello.

Ah... Thinking on that now, that does sound like something Genis might do. I don't remember any specific scenes or dialogue though.

In 100% OJ, if you're asking about playing local multiplayer on the same computer then you aren't able to unfortunately. So each player needs a Steam account and a copy of the game. So you only could if you had another computer with internet to use. I think the lack of local play is a bummer myself as these types of games are usually a fun easy thing to play in a room with others.

One of the issues involved is that everyone could see each others cards. Though I did browse the Steam forums for a bit for this game and it's one of the most requested features. The developers still update the game pretty regularly with new content, so it may eventually become available. We can hope so anyway.

You probably figured it out already but online multiplayer is easy enough to set up once you hit continue and choose your profile you just go to free play and make or join a lobby which you can set with passwords if you don't want to play with random people. People can join in anytime once a game is started, they'll just take over one of the computer players.

Suguri is a bit tough to start out with. She has low defense and HP but good evasion so you'll rely on dodging attacks most of the time. Her special card is really good though. It let's you roll 2 dice for the whole turn during movement and combat which is pretty scary. Mark has solid defense and QP is pretty balanced.

I don't know if you checked it out or not yet but from the main menu you can go to shopping and spend the stars you earned in games much like Mario Party's coins. You can get new cards for your deck, courses to play on, and characters to use. As your player rank goes up more stuff becomes available in the shop. You'll get more rank from winning but just playing still makes it go up which is good.

I don't know if it was something you did or not but I am able to see your profile on Steam now so that's all good.

Man it's been awhile since I played Symphonia but was Genis/Presea even a hinted at pairing? I don't remember that. Or did you just mean that he was wondering if you would like that pairing? The only obvious one I remember is Lloyd/Collette to some degree but it wasn't explored too deeply other then the whole childhood friend and want to save you thing.
Regulus777 Jan 20, 2016 7:29 AM
Thanks for the link and the correction of the artist's gender. I didn't know anything about her. I just recognized the style from the card game. I'll try reading a little bit of the manga this week and I'll get back to you on it.

Yeah, there are some games that just stay fun to play consistently for years and years. I've actively played Phantasy Star Online for Gamecube over 10 years now. Not everyday granted but I rarely go more then a couple months without playing it for a bit. A lot of my and SNES & N64 games I loved as a kid are like that too. I still love playing Mario RPG, Gradius III, Starfox 64, and Smash Bros. A lot of Beat em' ups and Sh'mups get replayed a lot too.

Yeah Symphonia is still my favorite Tales of game. Since you mentioned some of the other games. I also really enjoyed Eternia. I only finished it for the first time a year or 2 ago tho. Legendia I really enjoyed too. I just loved the characters and dialogue in that one but the combat did get a bit repetitive and my biggest disappointment at the time was no 2 Player as I had just finished Symphonia with my brother. Still though I replayed it a few years ago and still loved it. I perhaps like it more now then I did back when it came out. Abyss was fun to play and made some good improvements to combat (especially the camera with 2 players). I also enjoyed playing as Natalia who was a lot different from other Tales characters I usually liked playing as. The story was solid but didn't have as much impact as Symphonia's did for me. Symphonia was my first game in the series so it'll probly be hard to beat lol.

As for Steam if your logged in to the Steam client itself you should be able to click the tab with your user name and there should be an edit profile button there. If your doing it from your internet browser then you can get to the same page by clicking profile under your name in the upper right corner. From the edit page you'll be able to set your avatar and whatever info you want to put down. You'll also want to hit the privacy settings button on the right side and make sure your not set to private on profile status. Friends only should be good enough. I think that's all you'd need to do.

I'll send you Orange Juice on Steam shortly. Its a pretty amusing game though not too deep. Its very RNG and most everything is determined by dice. Tho playing with others the random RNG is more funny then anything soemtimes and losing doesn't really make you angry. Getting through the story modes can be a chore tho since it can feel liek the comps cheat, but will help you get used to how it plays... All the game's characters are from other titles that the company made like Acceleration of Suguri, Sora, and others, mostly sh'mups. There's a little bit of strategy revolving around cards that you can play on your turn or during combat. It plays a lot like Mario party but with no mini-games and you can get in battles with monsters on board spaces or with other players. The goal to win is to land on a home space after meeting a goal a certain number of times.

I hope you're not letting your arguments bother you. I wouldn't get too upset over it. If someone's tastes are very defined like focusing heavily on the same types of stuff its hard to accept or get into other things. I tend to feel that way myself. I'm just not as vocal about things I don't like and don't feel like lashing out on it is productive. Especially when you're talking to another person that is passionate about said thing. I used to have a friend that loved cosplay which isn't really my thing, but she was so enthusiastic about it that it was fun listening to her. After a long while though its like can we talk about something else for a bit please? lol. Anyway I'm getting a bit off track. All I'm getting at is that rather then get worked up over it just kind of go with the flow and keep your discussions in an area you both click well in. Especially if they are so deeply rooted in their opinion that there's no room for a change of heart, and I just mean that for people in general. Maybe you and Mighty aren't actually that bad off yet though.

There was one topic we had on bombermanboard with him that started off pretty shaky but by the end it felt like we smoothed things over nice. This can also serve as an example of how talking to someone long enough can start to pay off cause you'll eventually learn more about how each other feel and why you think a certain way..

Oh my god, that was 6 years ago...? So we were all considerably younger. Even my own writing looks much more aggressive to me then I am now. For some reason this left a lasting impression on me tho.
Regulus777 Jan 20, 2016 5:06 AM
Heya, I haven't been up that long but there's a good amount of stuff here to reply to. lol

As far as arguing with people goes, the best you can do IMO is say your piece politely and hope you get through to someone. I agree that its not good to waste energy on it, especially when you find you're arguing about the same things over and over again and it feels like you're repeating yourself. I tend to be in the neutral zone during arguments with multiple people and whenever someone gives me a hard time about something and they are too hot-headed I usually drop it after wrapping up my viewpoint rather then pressing on hoping they'll listen to me or trying to convince them. The exception is if they ask me questions that make me feel like they are actually interested in what I have to say. Then I'll usually continue a discussion.

More on Pokemon. Funny enough every few years I tend to replay or partially replay the old Red/Blue Gameboy games with my brother. Its usually kinda fun. We'll get a badge or two then fight each other and see how we're progressing. I was mildly interested in the Red/Blue remakes when those came out and the Pokemon Origins anime looks interesting as well. It also helps that its a short OVA lol. It's still possible I'll check those out at some point. The newer materials however I don't think I'll ever be interested in. As for that manga, how did you find it? I might try it out if I can find it. I don't see it on BakaBT, and I don't usually check too many other places for manga since I don't read it too often. It's neat that one of the guy's that did art for the trading card game works on it though. I remembered the style when I checked out the MAL entry.

Nice on Tales of Symphonia. That's one of my favorite videogames. I never got all the extra stuff done though, only a little bit of it. Even with that and the story I still played that game over 80 hours. lmao!

I also received and accepted your Steam friend request. According to Steam you haven't set up your community profile yet though so there currently isn't anything for me to look at on your page.
Regulus777 Jan 19, 2016 4:10 PM
Oh! This just occurred to me.... But if you check out my Steam page, I wouldn't look at my Screenshots you might see some Ys spoilers in there.
Regulus777 Jan 19, 2016 4:00 PM
Nice on the Falcom game pickups! The 2nd Legend of Heroes is sitting in my Steam Library waiting to be played heh heh. I'll get there soon I hope.

Ys VI: Ark of Napishtim is probably my favorite game in the series overall. Its got my favorite story and characters in the series (I love the sisters Olha and Isha. Isha is adorable) and the difficulty scaling is about perfect. Its music has a very slightly different style to it from the rest of the series too (kinda more electronic sounding) and is ridiculously good!

On Steam feel free to friend me. Same name, Regulus777, My profile page....

Maybe there's some games we'd both like that we could play some time down the road. I also have a few extra copies of games that I could gift you if you're interested. (100% Orange Juice is a pretty fun party game for instance and shouldn't even need a strong internet connection) They've been sitting in my inventory a loooooong time now lol. They were mostly extras from 4-packs when I bought them for friends. So I'd love to see them go to use.

Ah Mighty huh? It's been awhile since I've seen him around. So that's what he's been up to these days? Yeah I didn't agree with him a lot of the time. He's got very adamant opinions (A bit hot-headed even) and can be a bit hard to talk to when you disagree on something but we occasionally clicked on stuff back on Bmanboard. I never personally disliked the guy.

Fanfiction.net, I haven't seen this in quite awhile either! heh... I'm not really into fanfiction anymore and even when I was I only usually read material related to series I was a big fan of. Pokemon is not one of those series. I liked a few of the older games as much as the average kid but after a few more games, I felt they were all pretty much the same and I think the combat is very shallow. I didn't like many of the newer Pokemon designs either and more or less dropped the series. I quit about half way through Sapphire back in the early-mid 00s. My fandom for Pokemon is purely the old material and mostly just a nostalgia rush for me now... The new stuff and fan-works just don't really appeal to me.

So I can't comment on his writing style here, as I don't think I'd read through most of the story... Like I said that's purely due to my lack of interest in the source material. No offense intended.
Regulus777 Jan 19, 2016 7:28 AM
Hey Hey, Good to hear from you Hien! Yeah I'm still pretty out of the anime loop. I've been playing tons of games still. Mostly on Steam and I kinda got into Skylanders. lmao. We had a bunch of the toys at work starting to get cheap. Played through Giants and now working on Trap Team.

One of the other games I've been playing on Steam a lot of is Hyper Dimension Neptunia. Pretty good game, Probly gonna be starting up the 2nd one soon. My bro also gave me a copy of Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn for the Wii so I'll probably be checking that out. I kinda want to think I will be getting back to more anime again soon, but it's hard to say when exactly or how much..
Regulus777 Oct 24, 2015 7:38 AM
Yeah the 3rd season of Working should be the last one, The source material has ended from what I've heard. The upcoming special should be the last of it theoretically.

Shirobako touches base with just about every aspect of the industry which was pretty cool. It took me awhile to get into it though, the early episodes weren't hooking me in, some parts felt silly, but once you start getting to know the characters it comes around.

Nagi no Asukura's setting was definitely very unique and interesting. It's one of the things I really liked about that series.
It’s time to ditch the text file.
