Read your Zaregoto review and couldn't help myself not coming here since I thought it was really well written and I enjoyed it very much. Zaregoto and Nonsense user are imo one of the most underrated series/characters so with the new volume coming, I hope the series gains some recognition.

Great review for Monster Season!

Thanks for the review of monster season, I was really curious on whether I should check it out or not, same goes for off season.

I realized that after the first volume, the series itself isn't really about exploring or providing commentary on the topic of racism, fascism, or other political statements that was the intrigue of its first volume--like what you've said in your review but I also think it wouldn't have been repetitive if it's handled well. Well, at that, it was the first hit to my enjoyment of the series. Cause now, as I feared, the series is just about the lives and impact of war on characters like Shin and Lena. To which is the type of stories that I've seen and read before. And Shin and Lena's dynamic wasn't that great, to begin with. I really wanted 86 to be something more than that. I wanted 86 to be a series that could provide excellent commentary while also telling its own story in a way.

I had the pleasure to read your 86 light novel review and I think you summed up some of the problems with 86 really well. Even though in the end it's still a positive one from your perspective, you at least offered some really annoying aspects about the Light Novels.
