Yeah, Killua's sister/brother thing was pretty bad. The Gon turning into a JoJo thing, I would have prefered if they continuously animated Gon as this shadow-creature thing. I had a bit of a hard time to take JoJo-Gon seriously. Also, it was just very convenient that Gon was able to do this. But yeah, the worst part was easily how Alluka nullified the consequences for literally no cost. And the show even promises a cost for Alluka's power... tse tse.

99 starts out a bit better because we see Kite in the beginning and thus Gon's desire to become a hunter and search for his father is better established. Other than that it's just like 2011 so far. Maybe a tiny bit more fillery but still alright. Only major difference is of course that it's a lot darker in terms of colors and such and a bit stiffer in the animation but that's to be expected from such an "old" anime. (Although Rose of Versailles is extremely colorful for its age lol)

Yeah, Hisoka's reaction at the end of Yorknew was priceless and almost made up for the anticlimax.

Btw, I just finished the Chimera Ant Arc. It really ended up being even better than Yorknew (arguably, they are very close). Probably the best plotting I've seen in a shounen (after the training bullshit with Gon and Killua), although it went a bit overboard after Neteru's death. The amount of asspulls and utter nonsense was ridiculous after Neteru died (like Gon turning into the hulk, the fuck was up with that). I must say that though that Meruem's final scene was extremely nice.
That fight between Meruem and Neteru though... holy shit that was epic as hell.

That's nice to hear. I also try to take a break from anime whenever I'm extremely busy.

I didn't like the king in the beginning but right now he seems to become a more interesting character.
The chimera ants arc is insanely good at creating anticipation. I'm currently super hyped for all the upcoming fights. I hope HxH won't pull off a cockblock once again by skipping all of them, like it did in the hunter exam arc and at the end of the yorknew arc. Because so far I think this arc could be as good if not better as the yorknew arc if it delivers everything it promises.
I have to say though, I'm disappointed that the king doesn't have any of the main character's genes in him. When I first heard the premise I thought some of the heroes would die and get eaten by the queen to be reborn as part of the king's body and abilities.

Hi, I'm doing fine. Where have you been?

Yeah, HxH... I'm almost through.
Ant arc started out fantastic but slowed down significantly after the "death" of spoiler when the focus switched from interesting development of the ant republic to boring-ass Gon and Killua training/shenanigans.

hey, sorry for the late response. fmab was alright, i didn't like it as much as fma though. it was really preachy and tonally inconsistent and the characters weren't as good as they were in 03.
JohnnyBme May 19, 2015 12:36 PM
Interesting. I didn't watch B yet, but FMA feels less "shouneny" and plays more like a journey/adventure compared to fight > lose > train > powerup > win etc.
ZephSilver May 19, 2015 4:52 AM
no it's nowhere close to Tatami standards but it was still enjoyable for what it was.
JohnnyBme May 12, 2015 10:55 AM
Hey I'm watching FMA right now as well (We are on the same episode :D)
What makes you like it more than Brotherhood?
vedatsvet Apr 21, 2015 10:36 AM
OK, I see.

No I don't remember asking you about FMA. But as long as you mentioned it you can tell me why.
ZephSilver Apr 21, 2015 8:13 AM
It's nothing short of interesting. Witty dialogue, unique shot compositions and abstract motifs. Imagine if they took the nuttiest of The Tatami Galaxy but centered it around a harem and you'll begin to understand.

Ahiru is quite adorable. I like her too. Mytho is fine. I don't mind him, even though he's mostly just the damsel in distress. Great, I'm looking forward to that.

The first episode was extremely crazy and didn't really know what to make me expect from the rest. I've seen some people refer to it as one of their favourite anime. I'm not sure how I'll feel about it when I'm done.

Death Parade was a pretty good show. I know some elitists love to hate it, but fuck them. I thought it was solid enough, despite not being great.

Kind of amazing. Didn't really get it at first, but it had me very interested and wanting to know more. I mean, I still can't claim to understand it very well, but I'm slowly getting it and it's so fascinating to watch. I also enjoy the fairy tale references and seeing what kind of twist they'll put on them to fit the narrative every episode. The characters are likeable too. I'm especially rooting for Fakir. Can't wait to see more. I have so many questions that I need to get answers to!
ZephSilver Apr 14, 2015 1:52 PM
haha Hisoka's pose :') classic!
Well I'm in his spring 2015 version. Guts its pretty GAR, I think he's a little more stoic in characteristics though but still GAR none the less. Joseph's "OH MY GOD" engrish gets me everytime man, just too much goodness. Yea I really like Kurabara, there's a reason he's in my fav characters pic. I think Ore struck gold with the idea, I just hope he novelty don't wear off.

I plan to watch those shows eventually. Just need to find the time. My anime schedule is booked.
ZephSilver Apr 14, 2015 1:29 PM
Yea even at his old age he hungered for a good fight and satisfaction. He was far removed from your typical old sage. GAR, OP and awesome lol

Jojo's cast has the most GAR characters, then again the entire series is dedicated to GAR fanservice and older anime tropes. It's like a huge homage to GAR so all the characters (including the kids) are just manly af. And I talked about the MC for Ore on Rori's spring impression podcast. But in short to me he's like if you centered the show around a character like Kurabara from Hakusho. Like if you centered the show around the bully archetype and fleshed them out. Like he looks like a the big guy that picks on other guys and try to have a "fun time with a girl before the bishounen protagonist step in and beat them up. So it's a really cool twist to see the light shined on a character than are normally canon fodder.
It’s time to ditch the text file.
