Haven't played many RPGs (hadn't been able to play games in my childhood) but I'm dipping my toes into Fallout and Final Fantasy (playing the 1st one, gotta love the battle mechanics). For visual novels, haven't played anything outside Katawa Shoujo, but one route got me in tears ngl.

Octopath Traveler 2 will be taking place on a new continent with it's own cast and the developers mention it will be standalone. It will also have new stuff the 1st game lacked such as a Day/Night cycle, new path actions, and each of the new characters having their own "Latent Power". Also the characters are stated to have more banter with each other and even cross stories with specific duos.

Hikari the Warrior: A Japanese themed Prince in the Desert Region wanting to reclaim his homeland. He can duel people in the day to learn techniques and at night bribe people with money for Information. His Latent Power lets him do some hard hitting attacks. Will be voiced by Howard Wong in English and Yoji Matsuda in Japanese

Agnea the Dancer: A Small town girl wanting to become a famous dancer like her mom. She can charm people to follow her during the day and at night she can entreat items off of people if she is at a sufficient level. Her Latent Power is that she can extend a single target ability into multitargets. Voiced by Xanthe Huynh and Inori Minase, both VAs also share the roles of Altina from the Trails of Cold Steel games and Hidomi from FLCL Alternative.

Partitio the Merchant: A Merchant with a Jazzy theme that wants to end poverty. Can buy items off of people during day or hire them for help at Night. His latent power lets him fully restores someone's BP gauge. Voiced by Jas Patrick and Kazuya Nakai (Shinjiro from Persona 3)

Osvald the Scholar: Middle Aged dude who gets sent to prison for being framed for the deaths of his wife and kid by a Colleague. Can Scruntinize for Info during day and Mug People for Items during Night. Latent Power is concentrating AoE Spells all on one target with high potency. Voiced by Alejandro "Kaggyfilms" Saab and Joji Nakata.

Throne the Thief: Wants to leave behind the life of servitude as a Thief/Cleaner for the Thieves Guild. Can Steal during the day and Knocking Out People at night. She provides buffs at the start of fights at Night and her Latent Power lets her take 2 actions on the same turn. Voiced by Erica Mendez and Rie Tanaka

Temenos the Cleric: Works as an Inquisitor for the Church, and gets involved in investigating a conspiracy. Can Guide people during Day and Breaking People for Information during Night. Can debuff Foes at the start of battle at Night and his Latent Power is shield breaking with any attack. Voiced by Jordan Dash Cruz and Akira Ishida.

Ochette the Hunter: The 1st playable furry in the series. Lives on a Island full of people of her species. Not much is known about yet because her and Cassti's trailer isn't out yet.

Castti the Apothecary: Wakes up on a ship with no memories, most likely wants to recover them. There's a theory her night path action will involve drugging people to sleep. lol

Speaking of JRPGs, I am looking forward to Octopath Traveler 2 when that comes out. In fact, 2 of the new Characters share their Japanese VAs with Mitsuru and P3 MC.
