As far as Geass goes, I actually thoroughly enjoyed all of it. I thought the characters and their development was perfect. Rather than a train wreck, I thought it became more epic as it went. The deus ex machine! I didn’t thought the show was unrealistic in that regard; yeah some problems were resolved by suddenly having a new super weapon handy however, In history, they are several conflicts which were resolved with new technology that appeared to come out of nowhere from the enemy’s perspective, such as the atomic bomb for example. I thought they handled that aspect quite well personally and most super weapons and the likes had foreshadowing as well. They are mistakes and problems in Geass (No series is perfect after all), I've seen them and acknowledge them myself, but they aren't enough to damper my enjoyment.
But yeah I think you’re right, we’ve all got different opinions for different reasons.
As for Bebop haters loving Geass, I’m not surprised. If a large group of people all hate the same show, its logical to assume something about their tastes is probably similar, thus its also a reasonable assumption that would enjoy similar series as well. As for older fans, they grew on 80s anime, so the CLAMP bishonen artstyle as well as the more “modern” mecha design doesn’t appeal to them, its two of the main reasons I hear from old school fans whenever they say they can't get into Geass.
Indeed, Gargantia could've been done better, and most of its characters were rather flat. While I don't like most of Bebop's characters either, I do know I really like Spike and Jet, and they're memorable.
Yeah, I just checked your own ratings. I won't say anything, other than we differ in some parts. I'm sure you have your reasons.
And whoa, where did all this talk of Gargantia come from? You haven't been following my posts on other users' walls, have you? Mind you, I "only" gave Gargantia an 8, but if Chamber weren't such a boss, and if I didn't like the setting so much, I'd probably give it a 7 instead.
While it is a short, and therefore easy to rewatch series, I don't think rewatching it again would give you any new insight. Pretty straightforward show, all things considered. XD Also, "piece of trash", yet you gave it a 6? I would only say that about things I score below a 5, but that's just me.
EMBRACE OUR MADNESS AWESOME OR ELSE.
