No worries, glad to see that you're doing well! Now I have to decide whether to keep your old account in my Friends List or not lol. Maybe I'll keep it there for good memories ^^

And yes, Anne is bloody amazing.

I would actually advice to start RnY and Sukasuka by reading the novel format first, as it's more enjoyable to do novel-> anime in those particular cases than doing the contrary. (whereas doing anime-> novel in other cases like Spice & wolf is perfectly fine).

I read the novel first for satougashi, so I don't know if I can be good judge for that question.

you're welcome :).

hmmmh, I can't see your list so i cannot be sure you haven't already seen or watched those titles, but first translated titles I would rec would be spice and wolf (ookami to koushinryou), it's a fantasy/economy/romance title, very interesting with great characters. This would be followed by Rokka no Yuusha, a heroic fantasy coupled with mystery/psychological with constant suspicion for a traitor amongst the hero rank, as the hero's party goes deeper and deeper in enemy territory to kill the enemy's "general'.
After that err... I'm not actually sure of what is translated by now, didn't especially inform myself about english translation existing or not in many cases...
I would then rec shuumatsu nani shitemasu ka, isogashii desu ka, sukutte moratte ii desu ka (yes, the title is awfully long, usually abbreviated as sukasuka ) as well, since I heard the translation just finished. Last survivor of humanity in a fantasy world wakes up from being turned into stone 500 years after the death of humanity and of all he loved, the world is ravaged and the surviving races are using floating islands to survive. It's a story of a man that lost everything, yet try to teach a young race used as weapon the importance of life and how to fight, it's a man waiting for the peoples he cares about to return from battle alive rather than a man that goes to battle, so it inverts a lot of situation with what is traditional.

That's it for now for fantasy. I think most Science fiction titles I've read are not translated though.

For one volume long light novels, it's not fantasy or science fiction, but I would heavily rec another long title "satougashi no dangan wa uchinukenai : a lollypop or a bullet" which is a tragedy (and you know from the start that it will end in a very gruesome way for one of the character), main two characters are two middle school girls that everything oppose yet will share a strange friendship, until death does them part. Oh, and don't mind the cover/picture on that one, as they were removed in more recent editions btw, as there were clearly misleading on the content.

Same with one volume stories , you can try the very good "mimizuku to yoru no ou" which is a very nice darkish fairy tale-like fantasy story, as well as a science fiction one "Ame no Hi no Iris" which has a robot destined to be scrapped -after its master died- as its main character.

All those three are fully translated. You may need to go for a google search for satougashi's translation, I think it's not in the "usual places" but only found on the translator blog instead (you can download the translation from his blog all the same though).

Hello, I don't think 12 kingdoms is different from what I usually read, since it's very similar to the kind of stories I enjoy reading. I've watched the anime a long time ago so I'm pretty sure of that :p. The reason I haven't bought the books is very simple. It's unfinished, left in the middle of the story in fact, and in the last 16 years, the author only wrote one.single. volume.
I try to avoid buying series in that situation. I already have some discontinued series, and it's not a nice feeling.
Thanks for taking time of giving me a rec though :).

So you're reading them in english, right? You listed non fantasy novels, but are you also interested by fantasy novels? I don't read a lot of novels like oregairu, so not sure I'll have a rec that you don't know AND is translated for this type of novels, I mostly read fantasy/science fiction novels.

Indeed, Hideo Yamamoto's art in general very much suits his series. Truly a great man

The profile pic looks great, but I can't seem to find it.
That's pretty interesting. I've heard a lot of different opinions on that series, and many of which prefer the manga version. I haven't read or watched either one of them, but I have heard that the manga takes place in the 80's, while the anime is set in the modern age. I don't know why, so I may have to read the manga and watch the series for the sake of comparing them.
Thanks!
