Yes, this year was something else since we had to find series that receiver didn't read the manga/anime counterpart which made it extra hard.

MS was more grounded than other series imo, that's why it hits a different place. No Newtype stuff, no Midnight Butterfly etc. Just plain war. Pocket no Naka no Sensou was like that too, the scene whith kid's mother lives inside me rent froo to this day.

Both were the shows that i thought i would watch sometime but i needed some kind of push. You know the 26 episode stigmata? It goes like ''This 26 episodes deep and thoughtful show is brillant, but i will watch this 12 episode trashy seasonal instead.'' With your recs giving the push much needed i breezed'em.

For RahXephon i thought it was a wannabe trying to ride Evangelion train for the longest time, what i fool i was. It was really fresh, having a protag actually willing to do stuff seems like a game changer. And it had this unexpectancy. I usually figure out what's gonna happen before final episodes but i had no idea till ending credits started rolling. Also music, sembolism and imagery was really on point too. I'm playing Hemisphere on repeat ever since i finished. Also hey, another Gundam fan? Is 8th MS Shoutai your fav?

I went into Initial D with no exceptations but it was real tense. Found myself browsing AE86 Turone prices (It goes for around 15k$ btw!) Like you said it has races rivaling shounen fights. I don't remember last time i clencehd my fists so hard it started sweating due to tense and hype. I'm definitely going to watch whole thing and other seasons in future.

Between the three shows I gave you, I actually hold Fujiko Mine the dearest, so the fact that you both watched it first and enjoy it as much as I did is in itself very nice! I watched a bit of Lupin, and this version of Fujiko is my absolute favourite as well. Hope you'll enjoy yourself until the very last episode of my recs! :)
