Happy Birthday

Happy New Year!

Still trying to master perfect evasion. It's doable once you know the enemy type's patterns/moves, but for newer enemies it's a little trickier.

Yeah, it's a shame about the OST. Final Fantasy usually has solid and distinguishable tracks like FF7 remake-even with the newly added songs. Nier Automata and Nier Replicant Sqrt(1.5) had amazing OST. But Tales games...they're almost similar between the games like Dragon Quest.

Correct, I'm at the 2nd lord now. Been a little busy this past week to really sit down and play., but I plan to this weekend. I heard good things about Berseria, but Zestiria left a bad aftertaste, and I was done with that particular parallel universe at that point. Still can't decide whether Tales of Symphonia "sequel" is worse or better than Zestria lol.

A friend beat the game last week. He said it took him around 80 hours to complete--doing basically all the sidequests and not much grinding. He went for the platinum, and it added roughly another 10 hours. So, not bad by JRPGs standards I guess.

Good so far. It still plays like a Tales game, but the battle mechanics are still different enough to be fresh. One thing you have to get used to is that there is no guard mechanic like previous Tales games--only evasion. But if you do a "perfect evasion," you essentially get i-frames and can set up a counterattack.

The music is standard fare for Tales. Nothing in the OST has stood out so far from other Tales games, but I'm close to 15 hours in, so maybe it's too soon to tell.

The cast of characters is likable so far. The last Tales game I played was Zesteria, and I didn't care too much about the characters.

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year, you beautiful bastard :D I wish you finally leaving Hawaii for good, getting that dream job and keeping it for as long as you desire and not losing your mind because of Falcom's repetitive-ass antics :D And, of course, health, money, good fortune, money, money and cash.

PS. That KonoSuba movie was better than I expected. It's more like the second season in terms of comedy, plus the finale is, like always, a pretty bland animu fight, but it does have its moments. Kazuma getting raped by female orcs was definitely a highlight to me :D

I feel really bad about saying it now. I should probably just delete it but... -> Chill mate, I may not know the actual details, but I'm sure as hell aware of the gap between Poland and one of the greatest countries on the planet as far as the economy goes :D Hopefully you’ll find a stable employment in one of such companies soon, you deserve it after putting up with the coconut/pineapple diet for this long :D Still, yeah, and to think that when I earned 3000 PLN in August, I was like: „What am I going to do with this much money, I never earned this much!”, fuck, I’m a pleb. No worries though, I’m still saving for my migration… *earns 800 PLN in September because of less assignments* ...still saving… *earns 1200 this month* ...this is where I was supposed to put the Konosuba clip where Aqua receives some coins from a follower of a different religion and returns to Kazuma with a thousand yard stare, but I couldn’t find it on YT, so just imagine it being here :D Truly the most relatable moment in anime.

Yup, I constantly keep messing up the title, calling it „Lost Order” all the time, so I’ve decided to just stick to „that upcoming Star Wars” :D If I’ll manage to grab it on the release day, I’ll make sure to let you know if it’s any good :) Then again, they recently re-released Jedi Outcast on the PS4, so I’m also hoping for the both KOTOR games soon. I’ve been waiting for a good Single Player Star Wars games that isn’t Lego for the longest time.

Haha, after Tokyo Xanadu and Trails of Cold Steel, I can’t blame you at all :D I still like Ys because of the great exploration and satisfying Hack n’ Slash gameplay, as we’re not getting bombarded with animu tropes all the time. If you’re going to play CS 3 before Ys 9 hits, I can only imagine you putting this game on-hold for a year after the Western release :D

Man, don’t give me anxiety, I’m sure we’ll get Konosuba 3 some time after the movie. Hell, put it on Kickstarter, I’ll gladly fund it :D I’m slowly approaching the end of season 1 by the way, that Succubi episode was the funniest Ecchi moment I’ve seen in a very long while :D

Haha, if it’s not a problem for ya, I’d totally appreciate it :) I managed to find a fan translation of it, but you know how it is with these – they miss the mark at times, making it more dificult to enjoy. Especially for the guy like me, who has a hard time reading Light Novels in general, unless they’re really well written. Well, if it makes you feel better, our publishers still treat LNs like some Premium material, so the amount of copies they print is generally super low – you’ll either buy them on release or will need to look around the net to find someone willing to part with his own copy. Especially with how the thirsty fans here buy them almost instantly. Still, I’m shocked to read that Fate/Zero never got released in the US, I always thought you guys got it ages ago.

Meanwhile, I completely fell in love with Assassin’s Creed, after many years of ignoring the series. Haven’t touched the series since AC 2, but Odyssey made me buy a whole bunch of installments during the recent Ubisoft sale.

*stares at the Katsute Kami Datta Kemono-tachi e's rating* I'm not shocked at all. I remember checking out the manga last year because it looked like a cool "Wild West meets Fantasy" kind of title, but damn, was it generic. Couldn't even get past the first volume.

Sounds like a good idea, I'm sure that quite a few companies would be able to provide you with not only solid income, but also better work environment. There's nothing worse than burning out on your job, so best of luck at enduring those remaining 9 months :D I don't know how much do the payments differ between our countries, but even here you'd probably find a company which pays 7 grand a month with your experience. In PLN, of course, but it's a friggin' fortune by Polish standards.

I'm gonna wait for the reviews and my friends' opinions once Death Stranding hits myself. After MGS V, I'm kinda sceptical when it comes to overhyped open world titles from Kojima. It might be a great time, but I'm also afraid of the game boiling down to running around a huge, empty map, with some story bits here and there. I mean, it can't be worse than V's Afghanistan map, which was a pain to navigate. If Death Stranding's world is going to be more like Africa from MGS V, with varied environments and easier navigation, it might not be so bad. But for now, yeaaaaaahhhh, I'm gonna wait until the actual title hits our shores.
As far as my hype this year goes, I think only the upcoming Star Wars remains. I mean, I'm also waiting for that re-release of the PS3 Ghostbusters game I never played before and MediEvil's remake, but these are the smaller titles. Speaking of the upcoming titles, have you seen Bleak Faith? Man, talk about the best teaser of this year to me. The game is supposed to be an open world survival horror with Dark Souls-esque gameplay, but the environments just scream Nier. The problem is that this game is, of course, a Kickstarter title, made by two people. All the power to them, especially given that the project got funded and all, but I think we know how Kickstarters usually end :D The title is supposed to come out on Steam via Early Access very soon, but once they'll get more funds and wrap their heads around logistics-related guff, the PS4/Xbox One ports are supposed to come out as well. Man, this better be good. In the meantime, let's not forget about Ys 9 :D This is killing me, if only I knew Japanese. The Western version is probably going to come out in 6 months or so.

Honestly, I think season 3 is only a matter of time - Konosuba sells incredibly well, and if the movie is going to provide them with even more funds, I'm sure we'll see Kazuma's Fellowship of the Derp soon :D I'm still amazed how the show went with the "let's make the protagonist capable of stealing girls' underwear" approach, yet it's still hysterical :D I wish I had more time to watch it though, because since the last message, I only progressed through 1.5 episode.

Ohhhhh, a Sci-Fi Konosuba? I'm usually used to the situations where the titles similar to their author's best work usually end up being rather disappointing, but I might actually think of buying it. Just saw the first volume on Amazon for 15 bucks, the shipment will probably end up being twice the price, but it's worth it, I hope :D Thanks for letting me know! :) I just wish Konosuba's novel would get a Polish release. Our market is still pretty "low level" when it comes to Light Novels, but the manga publishers slowly go for titles like Fate/Zero or Overlord. Would certainly beat importing volume 1 from UK for 70 PLN, and that's when you buy from the local retailer.
VincentHarkonnen Sep 23, 2019 4:58 AM
Hah, I'd say "lucky you", but then I remembered how much you hate that place :D Still no news regarding a possible transfer this year?

Yeah, it honestly felt less like a war story and more like that prolonged part of many J-RPGs where bad stuff happens so you run around the map to collect your depressed team members. Not a bad game, but it could've been so much better, without even entering the gritty, gory territories. Definitely let me know how CS3 was, from what I've seen, they're finally merging it with the other games from this universe, so some lore reading might be a good thing to do :D
Speaking of disappointing J-RPGs, Code Vein's demo completely killed my interest in this game. It's such a wet dream for 12 year olds that I just can't find it in me to pay for the complete product. Looks low budget as hell too.

I'm liking it a ton, actually :D Aqua is the best, but then again, the overall cast is great. I like how it pulls off this Isekai theme I normally can't stand and delivers it in a genuinely funny way. The jokes being more varied despite of sticking to recurring themes are a great addition too :D Wish more anime were like this. *cough* Or if someone would make an RPG out of this show. Meanwhile, PS4 is getting a Fairy Tail game. Oh joy.
VincentHarkonnen Sep 17, 2019 9:32 AM
Oof, took a longer break from MAL. Hope you're doing well out there, that recent hurricane was pretty fuckin' brutal.

Yeah, I was expecting something more militaristic with CS 2, especially with how promising the epilogue to CS 1 was. It's partially the reason why I'm having such a hard time resuming the series, bought it mainly for war stories and mechs, while the games are rather half-assed in both regards, impressive worldbuilding aside.

Yup, I think I'm gonna pass on this one. Still need to wrap up Konosuba, got into it few weeks ago and I'm still super slow when it comes to watching it. Courtesy of me choosing to play games in free time instead of watching more animu.
VincentHarkonnen Jul 31, 2019 4:09 PM
Belated congrats on getting through CS 2. I still need to do that myself, but I don't have enough space in the room to hook up my PS3 at the moment.

How's Lord El-Melloi, by the way? Is it worth watching, or just another derpy Fate Spin-Off they made for a quick buck?
VincentHarkonnen Jul 1, 2019 4:19 PM
Plastic Memories is... okay. Nothing super memorable, but it stuck in my head because of the gifs Templar used to have on his profile here for the longest time. *laughs*

Oh man, I remember Angel Beats being the shit back when it came out. I liked it a ton too, until they dropped the whole "let's kill Tenshi" thing.
VincentHarkonnen Jun 14, 2019 6:52 AM
Damn, sounds like a merciless marathon, alright. Was Plastic Memories somewhere on the list too? *laughs*
VincentHarkonnen Apr 20, 2019 7:02 AM
Star Driver? Now that's some nostalgic show right there :D

I've picked up that 86 novel too, seems intriguing enough, aside of the usual annoying way LNs are written and the heroine being a friggin' 16 year old. Hopefully it delivers in terms of Fantasy holocaust, because that's why I gave it a read in the first place.
VincentHarkonnen Mar 29, 2019 10:48 AM
Yeah, it's like Monaco of antipodes - awesome in general, but good luck actually getting a citizenship there :D Man, it's been like... two years since they sent you to Hawaii, at this point, I wouldn't blame you for not playing Pokemon Sun/Moon or watching Lilo & Stitch because of PTSD :D Singapore, eh? Now that's one hell of an exotic location. Better prepare your stomach for a hawking center visit, from what I remember, Indonesia's all about food :D
