Oh, but that's the thing! Vorg had a world title fight in the recent manga chapters and it wouldn't make sense without the Dr. Sanata vs. Ippo fight because of the trainer :( and hopefully Hajime No Ippo will cover that world championship fight because that one is extremely tear-jerking and emotional. Won't say anything else, but it was one of my more favorite recent fights XD.

I remember it's currently the David Eagle vs Takamura fight for the Middle Class Championships :D Oh yeah, that's an awesome one! One of my favorites alongside Ippo vs Sendou (both times) and Takamura vs Bryan Hawk.
I vaguely recall that Ippo vs (Dr.) Sanata was completely skipped (in the New Challenger) and that annoyed me a bit since that was one of the best fights ever, with one of the coolest moves - the Hien. Too bad they never showed it afterwards :(
Personally, I like reading the manga for Hajime no Ippo because the anime takes long hiatuses between seasons and that annoys me :P There was 6 years in between Hajime No Ippo: The Fighting! and Hajime No Ippo: New Challenger. And then another 4 years before the current airing season Rising came out.
How far have you watched? Don't worry, I won't spoil anything :)
Are you following the Hajime No Ippo manga at all? Especially Ippo's fight against Alfredo? Because something HUGE happened for this week's (well... more last week's now) chapter. I'll put it in spoiler brackets in case you haven't caught up.
