Ahh, I see where I may have given off a misconception... I use "story" as single word for both the world and the plot. That is something I will have to edit because honestly, you're correct, the plot isn't really there at this juncture. We have a lot of vague hints about an actual plot, but as is it's just operation after operation. The world though is still fascinating were you to ask me.
And 100% agree, switching the perspective to the CCG has been detrimental.

The redemption of the series is up in the air for me. From the beginning my biggest complaint has always been the lack of Ken Kaneki. I know it's not an entirely fair complaint, but I absolutely loved that character. Kaneki after his transformation was always about going after the ghouls that actively harm humans. He slaughtered the "restaurant" and had set his sights on Aogiri. So with these new chapters, the idea that he maintains the illusion of Haise Sasaki and uses the CCG to fulfill his agenda, I actually really like that plot point. BUT, this development has taken too long to surface. We're over 50 chapters in. If the first series is any sort of judge, that's 1/3 of the series that one would have to force their way through... That is just too long. If Kaneki had come back sooner, if so much time hadn't been wasted, this series may not have been so poor in my eyes. Pure speculation on my part though, because even with Kaneki's return there's still a lot of problems about this story. But, given how these past few chapters have actually been good, I have hope (hollow though it may be) that the story will trend upwards. Maybe the old cast can become a bit more involved, maybe the Clowns and Aogiri can actually become a force that is dealt with rather than danced around. I'm not certain, but I still felt the need to add in that Chapter 58 edit. :/
