85.7% pretty high. And that OST is awesome.

I see you gave Ping Pong the animation a 7. Why so? I thought it was really close to Tatami Galaxy (Yojouhan Shinwa Taikei) and Kaiba. Yuasa aced in those 3. In terms of enjoyment, i felt Tatami and Kaiba were equal and better than Ping Pong, but Ping Pong itself was a behemoth all in all, barely any flaws, and the stories of the characters were all pretty good and masterfully presented. What flaws did you find in it?

Yeah it's been awhile. How've you been?

Hello, happy holidays! I've been well, aside from being ill the past few days. I've been busy with college myself but it's nice to be on break for now. Good luck with your (hopefully) final year!

Hey whats up? I've been gone for a long time and I just wanted to stop by and say hi :)
Matas Sep 15, 2014 12:59 PM
Thanks for answering, I was just kind of curious lol.

Aside from Kyousougiga i've been continuing down my path of Gundam stuff which i've just been watching a lot of lately, idk why. I finished ZZ which ended up being pretty bad and I started Unicorn which is okay so far, the narrative feels a bit more unbiased than usual on a side of the war which is nice and it has some okay-ish new themes, but it's mostly standard Gundam stuff - looks and sounds amazing though. I've also been watching Aria the Natural, I finished the first season which is an above average slice-of-life and natural is a the same way. It's good but I don't think it's really anything special at this point, I hear great things of the third season though so im excited for that.

Ah yes, i've heard a lot of good things about both of those and will probably start them sometime in the future. I plan on starting them after maybe finishing Kiseijuu and Oyasumi Punpun (which is really good but I just stopped reading for one reason or another, im going to start reading it again soon though,). I've also started Kiseijuu and I like it but I don't think it's anything great so far, it has some interesting concepts and execution though.

I did just finish Legend of the Strongest Man Kurosawa and I have to say it was actually quite a great read. Some really powerful character development and one of the most cathartic pieces of fiction i've seen. It has a lot of interesting metaphor and is a really entertaining and inspiring ride. Some of the middle arcs did drag on too long and I have a few problems with it but it's still very good and the last arc and the ending are incredible.

Alright, sounds interesting enough to give it a try. Even if it's not as good as NGE I will watch it for the ending.
Matas Sep 14, 2014 2:46 AM
Why did you drop Kyousougiga after one episode? If you don't mind me asking. I don't think I saw anything too egregious about it in the first episode (I just started it, watched episodes 0 and 1).

Hello there. You have good taste as well, all your favorites are great. I started Lotgh and Haibane recently and so far I'm really enjoying them (especially Lotgh).
Also I noticed you watched Argento Soma, how was it? A lot of people are comparing it to Neon Genesis.

I have no idea! Im thinking something in Computers, English, or Journalism. So im trying a class in all of them to get a feel for them and help me decide. Im also taking Japanese for fun.

Im glad you think so highly of me! Hahaha. I think I agree with about 60-70% of Roricons opinions and thoughts although we have some fundamental differences in how we evaluate and see things as well as our tastes.

I would say Kino's Journey definitely has a meaningful approach in it's themes. The show has a lot to offer and it knows how it's doing it. I had the same thoughts as you though going into it, I was very happily surprised by how good it ended up being and how much I enjoyed it.

Sorry for the late response! I've been rather busy and lazy when im not (atleast I admit it! lol)

I've been pretty good, been preparing to start college this semester so im both nervous and excited for that.

Anime has been a bit of a slog for me lately, i've been rather lazy with that as well. I found the newest season kind of burnt me out and im not really caught up with most of them and have been dropping couple shows. Im probably not going to pick up as many as I have been in following seasons because it's become to much of a chore.

As for what I have been watching, mainly Turn A Gundam and ZZ Gundam. Im sure you know how the former is going. :P ZZ on the other hand is a very odd watch, its first 18 episodes or so are very light-hearted and goofy and rather terrible imo overall, the plot doesn't really start moving until about 10 episodes in and I don't think the comedy stuff works especially considering after the 18 ep mark it suddenly gets dark and colonies are getting blown up and people are dying, if I could take the show seriously it would be a jarring swtich. The show has been getting on it's feet and becoming decent since then and finally feels like a normal Gundam series whether that be a good thing or bad thing. Although I do appreciate MSG and Zeta for pioneering a large part of mecha and having some other good aspects and ideas even if thy are quite bogged down by their bad aspects. I originally wasn't going to watch ZZ but im curious about Gundam Unicorn which i've never seen scored below a 6 and many of my credible friends have rated an 8-10.

I also watched Kino's Journey recently which completely blew me away, maybe it's because I don't have a disposition against episodic shows but it really has a ton of things to say and has a very poetic and fairy-tale esque style of storytelling that just made the way it executed it's very impactful and almost heavy-handed themes and messages to be very subtly, intricately, and greatly handled rather than being pretentious or preachy.
