Hey, thanks for taking the time to respond.

I think you're definitely onto something. I guess it wasn't something I considered, as I'm a lover of episodic anime that are happy remaining in their comfort zones, whereas I know a lot of people aren't. So the idea of 50 Mushishi episodes in the same vein is fine by me, especially when there are episodes scattered throughout that do things a little differently, or explore Ginko's backstory a bit more (like the last episode of the first Mushishi, or episode 10 of the new season - additionally the Path of Thorns 50 min episode set to air in August is apparently something different again).
Anyway, I actually feel this new season would resonate more positively with people if its first and second halves were one, without the season break between.

Still though, the new season surpassed my expectations, and certainly lived up to the hype for me. It didn't just improve in terms of production values, but Nagahama's direction is tighter this time round, with a better sense of pacing and really exploring the atmospheres and worlds of each episode. It's a notch above the original. And this is I guess where I was a little surprised, because I never really saw anyone remarking that the atmospheric storytelling has stepped its game up higher, somehow.

But anyway, you're comments have been helpful in getting to the bottom of this (yes, I treat it like a mystery), so thanks!

I've heard the Devil as a Part Timer is really funny. I hope you enjoy it, I only saw the first episode in my college anime club last year.

What in your opinion makes the Tatami Galaxy so enjoyable?

And why do you like Sayaka so much? Just curious. My favorite is Homura, but only b/c of the last 2 episodes or so.

There was a madoka magica panel at my annual anime convention I go to last week, where the english voice actor of the red haired girl (always forget her name!! Too lazy to look it up), her Japanese voice actress, and the english voice actor for Madoka spoke to a room full of 200 or so people. I managed to get a poster of Homura and Madoka, but I couldn't make it to the signing autograph event (too many people in line even when I arrived 35 minutes early!).
It’s time to ditch the text file.
