We actually use different methods to edit our favorite lists. In my case, I don't go to the anime and click to add or remove it, I click all favorites -> edit favorites to remove them and add them. When you do that, the most recent addition is automatically placed at the bottom (right).
So there's that reason where for me the hassle actually to change it is actually the other way around. But also, in general, people read things left to right, so I would rather they see my favorite anime first on the left. I think that's just generally how people interpret the favorites lists too.
So CHECK IT OUT!!!
I definitely get that feeling of not wanting to give lesser parts of a series the same score, even if they may deserve it in a vacuum. When it comes to Beastars, its first season was very solidly an 8 for me. It could be even higher, I've been really itching to re-watch Beastars and I probably will once the final season comes out.
When season 2 was a little bit worse, it honestly didn't feel right to give them the same overall score on MAL, even if I felt like it was probably on the upper side of my high 7 - low 8 rating in a vacuum. Because of that, I rated season 2 a 7 (but it is probably my highest 7) just to make it not seem as if I perceived the two to be equal.
Also that picture of Okabe is really funny LOL they did not proportion his head correctly there.
The future war scenes were honestly so absurd and goofy lmfaooooo
I'm not gonna lie, my score of a 9 definitely has some nostalgia factoring into it. I still don't think I could give it less than an 8 though, it's just got too many amazing moments and I didn't have the same view of bad directing or new characters - Maho was great and the directing, while not as amazing as the original, still needed to be great to pull off some of the scenes that it did. I also did dig melancholy Okabe, even if many people didn't.
Oh ok xD yep makes sense, also great anime
I still rec you Banana Fish, not to change your mind, but just to see a different perspective and get the answers to why certain views form
Oh really? That's super surprising, I would never guess that when it comes to a live action series based off Parasyte. Most live action series I see news about are still adaptions of the source material, I thought Odd Taxi's was really unique by taking an alternative approach. I may need to check out Parasyte's too then after I re-watch the anime.
You're right about thrillers losing that element when you already know how it goes. My recent re-watch of Steins;Gate (after having already re-watched it once in the past to pick up on details with full context) didn't hit as hard for that reason.
However, I honestly think I've forgotten enough about Parasyte to the point that I won't be affected in that same way. It's been so long since I've seen it. In terms of story beats, I only really remember the details surrounding what happened to the girl with the ear muffs and then the final fight. I'm sure that many things will feel familiar to me as I watch it and I might remember some more things, but it really seems as if I'd be going into a new series with just a couple of major spoilers.
Would that show just be the same as the anime, but live action? If so, this Odd Taxi one definitely interests me more, it's always super cool when media provide an alternate view with additional context to how mysteries played out.
I do really need to re-watch Parasyte though. It's one of my favorite anime too but I haven't seen it since around 2016.
Parasyte, Your Lie in April, and Assassination Classroom are the 3 series I considered among my favorites and rated them 9 when I was way younger (2015-16), but that I want to re-watch to see if I still agree with the scores. Both my tastes and rating methodologies have changed since then, so I'd be interested in learning what I think now. There are a few 7-8s that I've wanted to do that with too.
It's hard to force myself to re-watch something just for that purpose though. Is it really worth spending that many hours watching something just so I can reduce a score on one of my favorite childhood shows by 1, when I could watch something new instead?
Parasyte's a case where I do want to genuinely re-watch it though since I realized I forgot lots of details in the show. Your Lie in April / Assassination Classroom would be re-watches purely for potential re-scoring.
