'Dorohedoro' Anime Sequel Announced

The official website of the Dorohedoro television anime announced on Tuesday that a sequel is in production, revealing a teaser visual (pictured). The sequel adapting Q Hayashida's adventure fantasy manga will premiere on streaming platforms.

The first season by animation studio MAPPA aired in 12 episodes in Winter 2020. Netflix streamed the anime in Japan in January 2020 and later worldwide in May that year. The second limited edition Blu-ray bundled six short episodes in June 2020.

Dorohedoro originally debuted in Spirits Zoukan Ikki (later renamed to Monthly Ikki) in November 2000 before switching to HiBaNa in March 2015 due to the former discontinuing its serialization in September the year prior. The manga then transferred to Gessan in November 2017 when HiBaNa ceased publishing in August that year and ended in September 2018. Shogakukan shipped the 23rd and final volume in November 2018.

VIZ Media began publishing the manga digitally on its SigIkki website in 2009, the former online English edition of the Ikki magazine. The company began distributing the manga physically under its Signature imprint in March 2010 and released the 23rd and final volume in September 2019.

One of my most favorite series from 2020, alongside Keep Your Hands Off Eizouken!, Majo no Tabitabi, Somali to Mori no Kamisama, and Id: Invaded. Will definitely be watching this soon after its initial premiere, which, let's hope is more like a year or two away instead of five.

Let let this be a fantastic lesson and reminder though for those who always prematurely and without just cause treat it as a foregone conclusion that an anime series will definitely not be continued and receive a second (or whatever subsequent number is applicable) season once a few years pass. Anime have been renewed and continued with later seasons after even much longer breaks in-between than this.

LETS FUCKING !!!!!!!!! GOOOOOOOOOOO !!!!!! Watched this when I was 15 I remember I kept looking for a s2 release date waiting but no mention everyone said it would never get a sequel because of poor viewership due to the adaptation being full 3d not 2d this is amazing news !!!!
