'Sousou no Frieren' Unveils Additional Cast, Opening Theme, Promo for Second Cours

The official website of the Sousou no Frieren (Frieren: Beyond Journey's End) television anime unveiled additional cast, the opening theme, a promotional video, and key visual (pictured) for its second cour on Friday. The anime premiered with a two-hour special on September 29 at 9:00 p.m. on NTV's Friday Road Show programming block, followed by BS NTV and AT-X. The second cour is set to premiere on January 5 at 11:40 p.m.

Yorushika (Boku no Kokoro no Yabai Yatsu) is performing the second cour opening theme "Haru," which is previewed in the promotional video below.

Keiichirou Saitou (Bocchi the Rock!) is directing the television anime at Madhouse. Tomohiro Suzuki (One Punch Man) is in charge of the series composition. Reiko Nagasawa is designing the characters, and Evan Call (Violet Evergarden) is composing the music.

The anime adapts Kanehito Yamada and Tsukasa Abe's fantasy adventure manga, which began serializing in Shounen Sunday magazine in April 2020. Shogakukan shipped the 12th volume on December 18.

VIZ Media licensed the manga in English in February 2021 and published the ninth volume on October 17. The tenth volume is scheduled to be released in February 2024.

Friern is a great example of an anime that has fantasy tropes without feeling cliche. Can't wait for the second half.

@malvarez1 I think if action scenes are done right then this will be a great arc to watch. As an Anime only i am very excited.

This arc was peak in the manga IMO, but I know a lot of people prefer Frieren's shorter stories, so I wonder how this will go over.

@Playcool I really loved ED1 one too. And yeah, you pretty much summed up why OP1 is garbo. I'd add that the visuals were pretty subpar and uncreative and the direction felt really bland which is a shame considering how good the show is.

@Rocknblock ED1 was soo much better than OP1.
The happy tones of OP1 meshed so badly many times when the episode had something dramatic going on.

I'm just gonna say that i fucking hated the first op so whatever comes next will be better for sure. (i really like Yoasobi but they definitely weren't a fit for Frieren)

Is it just me or do anime blockbusters these days have more vibes of the 00s and early 10s than of this years? Or is it just because of duckling syndrome that I associate all the anime that pleasantly impress me with those years? The new OP just seemed pretty old fashioned to me, in a good way.
