The official X (formerly Twitter) of Comic PASH! magazine announced a television anime adaptation of Izumi Sawano and Uri Sugata's Kisaki Kyouiku kara Nigetai Watashi (I Want to Escape from Princess Lessons) manga on Wednesday.

Sawano and Sugata began serializing the romance fantasy manga in Comic PASH! magazine in March 2020. Shufu to Seikatsusha published the fifth volume on November 2. The series has a cumulative 1.2 million copies of its volumes in circulation.

Kisaki Kyouiku kara Nigetai Watashi is based on Sawano's novel series, which originally began on the Shousetsuka ni Narou website in August 2018. Shufu to Seikatsusha acquired the novel and published the first volume under its PASH! Books imprint in April 2019, featuring illustrations by Miru Yumesaki. The second and final volume was released in March 2020.

J-Novel Club licensed both the manga and light novel for digital release in English. The first light novel volume went on sale on September 20, while the second and final volume is scheduled to be released on November 22. The first manga volume is set for a November 29 release.

Synopsis
Leticia Dorman, daughter of a duke, has been engaged to the crown prince, Clarke, since age seven. Though once a spirited child, she's undergone ten years of strict lessons to teach her manners fit for the future queen. Distraught by the loss of her freedom, Leticia clings to her hope that the prince might someday take an interest in another woman—and when he shows up to a royal ball with an unknown lady at his side, she's elated to see her engagement broken off. Finally, her dream has come true! Lettie wastes no time at all in retreating to the countryside for her new peaceful life, but her joy is cut short when the prince appears and informs her that she is still, in fact, his fiancée. Prince Clarke is determined to win her heart and marry her. Lettie is determined to resist him and escape. The universe is determined to not be of any help whatsoever. (Source: J-Novel Club)

Oof having read the manga & Webtoon adaption, this is a weird choice for an anime. It’s frustrating above all else. It won’t happen but I wish the main character would just get revenge on everyone who has wronged her . :/

I'm not the biggest fan of Light Novels, but I have faith in this anime that it will be good.

@RobertBobert, yes, you are right.

@Memore I don't want to say that I'm tired, no. It’s just unusual for me to see so much fantasy even in classic school stories.

@erikkamirs, and why are you glad then?

@RobertBobert, I also tired of this.

It always makes me happy to see manga I've read get adapted to anime (even if I dropped the manga after 20 chapters lmao).

@Memore Well, judging by the synopsis, this is more or less normally built into such a setting. It just seems like I'm too used to the high school shoujo about girls running with toast or yelling "kyayaya" than the modern "everything will be better with fantasy" wave.

@RobertBobert, I agree, literally every new announcement is about this genre, also isekai and idols.

Interesting introduction definitely gonna give this a try.

Is anime so obsessed with fantasy and otome-like worlds that even the authors of fairly typical tsundere shoujo transfer their plots to this setting? Reminds me of a Oreimo author's joke about plans to write imouto LN for every new trend.
