A third anime season for Mamare Touno's Log Horizon light novel series was announced by NHK on Wednesday, scheduled to air in October 2020. The third season—subtitled Entaku Houkai (Collapse of the Round Table)—will reunite the production staff and cast members from the past two seasons at Studio Deen.

Synopsis
In the blink of an eye, thirty thousand bewildered Japanese gamers are whisked from their everyday lives into the world of the popular MMORPG, Elder Tale, after the game's latest update—unable to log out. Among them is the socially awkward college student Shiroe, whose confusion and shock lasts only a moment as, a veteran of the game, he immediately sets out to explore the limits of his new reality.

Shiroe must learn to live in this new world, leading others and negotiating with the NPC "natives" in order to bring stability to the virtual city of Akihabara. He is joined by his unfortunate friend Naotsugu, having logged in for the first time in years only to find himself trapped, and Akatsuki, a petite but fierce assassin who labels Shiroe as her master. A tale of fantasy, adventure, and politics, Log Horizon explores the elements of gaming through the eyes of a master strategist who attempts to make the best of a puzzling situation. [Written by MAL Rewrite]

Touno began writing the adventure fantasy novel series on the Shousetsuka ni Narou website in April 2010. Kadokawa released the first volume with illustrations by Kazuhiro Hara (Gundam Build Divers) in March 2011. The 11th volume shipped in March 2018. Touna published the 12th, 13th, and 14th volumes on the aforementioned website in 2016 and 2017 and updated the latest volume with chapter 134 in March 2018.

The first season by animation studio Satelight aired over two quarters beginning in Fall 2013. Studio Deen produced the second season the following Fall, which also aired for two cours. Crunchyroll simulcast both seasons with subtitles as they aired in Japan.

Sentai Filmworks licensed the anime series in North America and released the first season on two Blu-ray and DVD volumes in November 2014 and January 2015. The second season was also shipped in two Blu-ray and DVD volumes in May and June 2016.

Yen Press licensed the light novel in English in 2014 and published the first volume in April 2015. The 11th volume is scheduled to go on sale on January 29. The series has also been published in multiple foreign languages, including Chinese, Korean, Thai, Portuguese, French, and Polish.

to bad there isn't more good stuff like LH. We are littered with garbage VRMMO and cancer shit art online.

Also I got the email for this and shit myself. I couldn't believe it.

Does anyone know who read the LN if this will be the ending? Assuming it is 25 episodes.

Log Horizon is truly one of a kind. I hope the sales for Season 3 are massive.

I don't know how it took them 6 years to decide to make season 3, I was close to giving up the hope but they pulled through.

Deen haters suck it.

Mount and Blade fans waited 8 years for Bannerlord to release... never give up hope.

I'm happy.
I'll be happier when we get Database as the OP again.

It pissed off The SuperBestFriends (RIP T_T) so much that it made me like it even more.

What's up with all these good anime from years back getting sequels/reboots lately? Is the anime industry catching the Hollywood fever?

It seems odd to me that people constantly trash S2, and yet the difference in rating is only 0.4 from season 01.

IMO I think it's just popular to hate on studio DEEN for most people.

Anyway I look forward to this next season. I might rewatch maybe not depends if I have time.

As far as i remember, 2nd season started strong and ended strong but the middle part was like they went on a sidequest or something.

Yes it got a bit muddled in the middle, not too badly though. A nice change of pace to ramp up for the epic battle at the end.
