RIP Japan. You're beyond saving.

No, hope is still bright :). Maine beating all waifus like Asuna (baring Mikoto) in a popularity poll is huge, for example.

A little child (the child writing in front), and not a sexualized/ waifu-ized one, protagonist was more voted than the super popular waifus.
If that's not a change compared to what we usually see in those polls, I don't know what is. Especially when that same work also ranked first in the tankoubon poll, beating every single power fantasy isekai in there.

2017 ranking were published by the end of 2016, and so on, it's the same as march manga magazines being published in February for example. those rankings comes in a magazine, so it works the same way.

What a garbage post. It just shows that you're a prude, with shit taste at that.

The same title number 1 for 2 years in a row. That's something. I probably need to check it out.

besides that,

happy for SAO, danmachi, Kumo desu ga, Mushoku Tensei and, of course, slime kun! Great list, so far

The year long wait for the overlord volume sure hurt it :'(
It should be higher next year.

You guys realize the amount of characters and titles that can be voted for right? technically just Index alone has hundred of them, and it's only one title amongst thousands.
And that there is definitely NOT millions of peoples in Japan caring for Mikoto, either.

Completely forgot about that, that makes alot of sense

Sooo Ryuuou no Oshigoto has won two years in a row now? That's pretty cool

Hope the anime will live up to the hype

IIRC that magazine also has such ranking as well (basically removing all older titles from the list to keep just the new ones as a ranking).

These novels aren't even that much sugoi.

Oh yeah I actually read Tomozaki-kun before. Time to get back to it after finishing KuMeYu first.

Ayy, Misaka got listed 1st again! I mean, is it even questionable? The worst she's done is being second in 2015, because Yukino got popularity boost from season 2. Otherwise, Misaka has always been #1 since 2010! Go Misaka! Third season hype, but she will barely have screen time T_T Season 5 plz.

Misaka fans have proven time and time again that they are really good at mobilising themselves for basically any popularity based votes. In a poll like this one with tens if not hundreds of thousands of characters to choose between it doesn't take all that large a dedicated fandom to get them at or near the top every single year, and there are enough characters with sufficient fandom to keep them in the characters that make the longer list every single year as to make those rankings by far the least meaningful part of the whole thing. Luckily both character rankings put together only take up about 5% of the space.

I hope all of the new ones are gonna get an anime adaption.
Also still no slime anime, if I dont see an announcement of it by the end of 2018, i have no idea what the anime industry is doing.

Loli shogi is really popular, huh. Perhaps i'll pick it up and also the bookworm isekai later.

86 is personally the best title i've read this year. And too bad Index didn't make it, since the newest arc is really good after the disappointing previous one.

At this point the female poll should be titled "Top 9 Female Characters after Misaka Mikoto" instead.

Index was 26. This is top 60, it's just MAL posted first 10 positions.

What I don't understand is that there's only like ~300-400 people voting on this event? Especially something that is polled from the internet (based on Wikipedia, which doesn't explain the low number of people). That doesn't seem like a lot of people for a ranking poll that has been running since 2005. Unless it's "300 high esteemed voters" like those critics in Rotten Tomatoes.

Infinite Dengrogram seems fun, just like 86 I've just read the prologue and it seems promising.
Dendro is fun to read. Right now it is warping the first major arc and there are lot of bang here and there with various character clashing.
