Fuji TV has launched an official website for a new Kuragehime (Princess Jellyfish) live-action TV series. Junichi Ishikawa will direct the series and Yuuichi Tokunaga will be in charge of the script. Actress Kyouko Yoshine will cast as Tsukimi Kurashita. The TV series will begin its broadcast via the station in January 2018.

Drawn by Akiko Higashimura, the 17-volume series began serialization in Kodansha's Kiss magazine in 2008 and ended in August 2017. It received an 11-episode TV anime adaptation by Brain's Base in 2010, as well as a live-action movie in 2014. Kodansha Comics released the sixth omnibus volume in North America in September.

i'm a lil scared of how kuranosuke will be represented, however we get to see some really nice dresses in live action either way so that's exciting!

I'd prefer a full anime adaptation but it's fine anyway, I guess. Might be the first asian TV drama I'll watch, if it ends up being available online.

I'm guessing the live action Tokyo Tarareba Musume did well, then... lol

I just hope Kuranosuke is feminine enough.

I’m so happy!! 😭 Princess Jellyfish is my favorite anime/manga ever. I wonder who’s going to play Kuranosuke though?

The success of this TV show is all going to depend on the person that is cast for Kuranosuke...

Another live-action? Guess it must be doing better on that front than the anime front in sales...

The final volume (vol. 17) will come out sometime this month. The manga already ended a couple of months back. They announced it just before the final volume's release to boost the sales. Although it has been doing pretty good on it's own along with Sensei's few other manga that ran during its run. She is one of the few mangaka out there who have multiple manga serialized at the same time.

I knew it. It's too much of an ask for Josei manga adaptation into anime. Well, I am happy for Akiko-sensei. Her stories are amazing.
