The Shop Tsutaya page for Jigoku Shoujo's omnibus volume titled Kachou Fuuketsu lists that the series will get a new anime season. It is slated for Summer 2017.

Jigoku Shoujo is an original anime produced by Studio Deen. Three seasons were broadcast in Fall 2005, Fall 2006, and Fall 2008. A manga version was serialized irregularly by Miyuki Eto in Nakayoshi between 2005 and 2008 with nine compiled volumes. The manga received two sequels; the first, titled Shin Jigoku Shoujo, was serialized from 2008 to 2009 with three compiled volumes, and the second, titled Jigoku Shoujo R, was serialized from 2009 to 2013 with eleven compiled volumes.

Time to watch the 3 prequels before this one airs. 78 episodes in two months will be tiring, but affordable.

Hello. Uhh, I am not sure if I can actually post this here but the title for the Opening and Ending theme has been added on the official website.

• link here: http://www.jigokushoujo.com/sp/music/

The Opening theme title is 'Noise' and will be sung by a 4 member band, Mio Yamazaki. The Ending theme title is 'Irogami' and will be sung by our lovely Noto Mamiko. I haven't heard of the band 'Mio Yamazaki' until recently. Is anyone familiar with them?

There is no preview yet, and I am just overexcited for 'Yoi no Togi' that I was sharing this new information. 😅

Anyways, I guess that's it?

p/s: I am feeling awkward so please ignore this sidenote. 🙇

. . .
edit: changed the pronoun coz' Mio Yamazaki is actually a band.

There's manga of this.

Yes but it came after so its an original.

The manga started two days before the anime, so you're technically wrong.

Whoa, I remembered watching the first season last year. I guess I should continue season 2 and 3 to prepare for season 4.

Damn, Deen made this? It looked pretty good on its first season for a 2005 anime. To think that this series will have a 4th season after 12 years since debut... what is this? Finding Dory? I can't believe an original anime actually gets a sequel after ~9 years since its last season.

Omg throwback to "hotline to hell" website.
I love Ai. I'm excited to see her again.

Dwamn! I never finished the third season, but I guess I now have a reason to go back.

I honestly have not been this hyped in a long time *about 3 seasons to be exact*

i agree that 3rd season came out of left field and wasnt as good as season 2 or as suspenseful as season 1 but i believe that season 2 needed a sequal so i hope that this season brings forth what im expecting

After that 3rd season, I'm not sure how to feel about this..

I still consider the 2nd season as the closure for the story. (Unless this will have "another" good closure, both the 3rd and the upcoming 4th season are non-canon to me)

So much this.
The 3rd season was not needed at all. Not looking forward to this as well, though if someone can theoretically reanimate the whole story and make another good season, it is Takahiro Omori. But this would be quite hard after S3.

Also, what's with this regionally blocked teaser?

Great news! The sequel I was hoping for but never expected to get.

Honestly, this snippet is better news than the fact that we're getting more Ai Enma.

Looking forward to Mamiko Noto reprising her role. Love her singing.

Cool. Next we will hear Baccano S2 announcement right?

Mar 1, 2017 7:47 AM by bossmama

Excuse me? Another season? Did it really need another season? Uhh...ok...at least it'll only be 12 episodes this time...right?

Mar 1, 2017 12:17 AM by Tarotist

Double confirmed that its airing this summer. Title of this season is ''Jigoku Shoujo Yoi no Togi''
It's going to be 12 episodes (of course) with 6 new episode and 6 "reminiscence" episodes.
The cast and staff will be back for it (yes, even Takahiro Omori who didnt direct the third season is back and Deen is still doing it)
