It was announced via Miyu Irino's Kiramune blog on November 30, 2016 that he will go on hiatus after his solo live on January 2017. After that he will go study abroad.

He mentioned that he has been interested in the foreign life and learning the entertainment field there. As he experienced more, he realized he has things he lacked and yearned, so he wants to go study abroad for self-improvement. His talk with his agency was not easy because it took them very long time to decide the detail. He hasn't announced when after the solo live or where he will go, but he promised that he will go and come back quickly.

Irino is a child actor who entered the entertainment field at the age of 4 by joining Himawari Theatre Group. His first voice role was PaRappa in Parappa the Rapper, and became popular from voicing Haku from Sen to Chihiro no Kamikakushi (Spirited Away). His popular roles are both Syaorans in the anime adaptations of Tsubasa: RESERVoir CHRoNiCLE, Konoha Inoue in the anime adaptations of "Bungaku Shoujo" Series, Akito Hyuuga in Code Geass: Boukoku no Akito Series, Jinta Yadomi in Ano Hi Mita Hana no Namae wo Bokutachi wa Mada Shiranai. TV series and movie, Todomatsu Matsuno in Osomatsu-san, and more. His recent roles are Koushi Sugawara in the third season of the anime adaptation of Haikyuu!!, Shouya Ishida in Koe no Katachi, and Episode in Kizumonogatari movie trilogy. His second full album DARE TO DREAM has just released via Kiramune label on November 30, 2016. He also forms a duo as KAmiYU with Hiroshi Kamiya. He is also active as a musical actor since 2013 as a part of his motto of improving himself every day.

Update: This is the final update to his radio show (end of March) before entering hiatus, so I'm guessing his study started in the Spring.

I wish I could get access, though, so that I can learn if he has announced any detail regarding to the study or not (as the radio channel USEN's access is restricted). The Twitter only announce what current week episode is about, and not detailed report about the content (though there is summary in the official site but not helping at all). There's no news regarding to his study in his agency website, and his Kiramune blog has no update after coming-of-age entry either.

Totally, agree. I'm also proud of him. And he's still young (besides, you're never too old to explore the world and learn new things). Too bad, his agency prevented him from reaching his dreams, but he didn't give up. Ganbatte, Miyu-kun! I hope he will enjoy and make great experiences in his study abroad (wondering, where he's going...).

didn't except him to go study abroad in his late twenties!
it seems he wanted to go before but his agency refused him from reaching his dreams!

I hope he finds what he want to study and come back to us <33
he's one of the great seiyuus and I love his personality so much

Never say never. I'm in my late twenties- actually the same age as Miyu kun, and I'm studying abroad too. Sometimes you just have to do what your heart tells you to do no matter how hard it may seem. I'm proud of him. Glad to know he is bold and brave to go for his dreams despite pressure and etc. We have only one round in this life, might as well live it to the fullest.

May his studies go well, and may he gain excellent knowledge that will be invaluable in life. And may he return as soon as possible to voice great characters again.

Wow, well he's been constantly on my radar since Spirited Away... so when he was 12-13?!! Must have taken a lot of courage to finally take this step - genuinely wishing him all the best!!!!!

Also, as others have said after reading the title, relieved it wasn't due to medical reasons.

Hmm, sure wonder if he finished his voice recording for KH3 or maybe the developement have not even gone that far yet xd

Speaking of, why did Sora's english VA say that he had finished recording his lines back in the 2015? It gives me hope that maybe... just maybe Miyu had finished doing Sora's voiced line around the same time. If not, then... well, it'd suck so bad especially now that Utada Hikaru is back from hiatus
