Visuals and Staff for Anime Mirai 2014 Announced

The visuals and staff for the 2014 Anime Mirai shorts were revealed at Machi Asobi vol.11 this weekend. Anime Mirai is a part of the Young Animator Training Project, created by the Japanese Animation Creators Association (JAniCA). The first iteration of the project launched in 2010 and the effort, which funds the training of young animators in on-the-job scenarios at studios over the course of a year, is supported by the Japanese government's Agency of Cultural Affairs.

The 2014 shorts are as follows:

Harmonie
Synopsis: A film about making connections in a classroom.
Director: Yasuhiro Yoshiura
Producer: Ryosuke Inagaki
Character Designer/Animation Director: Atsushi Ikariya
Assistant Animation Director: Daisuke Mataga
Animation: Ultra Super Pictures

The Big First-Grader and the Small Second-Grader
Synopsis: A small girl takes her big but timid friends for a walk into the the Ipponsugi forest to look for a bellflower.
Director: Ayumu Watanabe
Producer: Makoto Sotozaki
Character Designer: Shizue Kaneko
Animation Director: Keiichirou Matsui
Assistant Animation Director: Koji Watanabe
Animation: A-1 Pictures

Paroru's Future Island
Synopsis: A film about strange creatures living on a remote island, whose isolation is broken when curiosity inspires the younger members to seek out the human world.
Director: Kazuaki Imai
Producer: Maiko Okada
Character Design/Animation Director: Yoshimichi Kameda
Animation: Shin-Ei Animation

Kuro no Sumika -Chronus-
Synopsis: This film is about a student with a dark destiny.
Director: Naoyuki Onda
Producer: Eiko Tanaka (founder of Studio 4°C)
Production Manager: Hiroto Yonemori
Character Designer/Animation Director: Yasuyuki Shimizu
Assistant Animation Director: Mikine Kuwabara
Animation: Studio 4°C

These short anime films will be screened at TOHO Cinemas Roppongi Hills on March 1, 2014.

Yesss more of Yoshiura Yasuhiro's work is always welcome! The visual for Harmonie looks nice :) And also Onda Naoyuki who worked on some of my favorite anime, Ergo Proxy, Witch Hunter Robin, and Wolf's Rain. Looks like he's going to be directing something similar to those anime ^^ Looking forward for these!

After looking at the photos which had the pictures for the respective projects, the only one that interests me is Kuro no Sumika -Chronos-. It's interesting to see that there seems to be some diversity amongst them in age groups they're targeting. They all seem to be similar in that connections play an importance in the story though from the general descriptions, which I also find interesting.
