Tower Records' official Twitter revealed during the concert "Producer Jin One Man Live Mekaku City Summer '13" held today, details about the anime adaption of Kagerou Project, a mix-media project by the vocaloid musical composer and writer Jin. The anime is titled Mekaku City Actors and will be directed by Shinbo Akiyuki and animated by Shaft. No airing date or other staff or cast information has been disclosed yet.

The Kagerou Project started in February 2011 on Nico Nico Douga with the song "Jinzou Enemy" (Artificial Enemy). A few more songs followed and the third one, "Kagerou Days," proved to be particularly popular. The name was chosen as the title for the later manga and novel adaptation. The first CD album was released in February 2012 (also named "Mekaku City Actors"). The first volume of the novel was published in May, and the manga started in July (with the first volume published in November). So far, 3 albums, 1 single, 3 novel volumes, and 2 manga volumes have been released. The story told a complex and mysterious tale which started on August 14th and involved a number of characters, some with special powers. In addition, the songs are about different characters' views.

I hope they aired 'that' part on August 14. The
( this time literally) endless loop

First discovered this in December while lurking through IA songs. Last year Mary is the only one comes into my mind. But as I look deeper : Momo, Hibiya, Ayano

Okay, who do you think mostly suitable for Ayano? She is not exactly deredere but I can't quite get a grasp on who I should hope to voiced her.

Love Shaft and really hyped to see this animated by them, but still have the problem on how long Shaft takes to announce release dates, making my head hurt with anticipation! >.<

Why not? Jin is currently the most popular vocaloid producer in Nico Nico, his songs dominate the weekly rankings, he's a first vocaloid producer to have a solo album debut in #1 at Oricon....... better question would be why stuff like this doesn't get animated more.

Still. Imo I would prefer more anime like Shingeki no Kyojin to come out , the epicness in this industry lowered considerably in the last years.

Then you should check out the KagePro anime, because it's going to be a lot darker and more original than what you'll expect.

It's about vocaloids?

Does it actually have a plot?

No, it's not about Vocaloids. The Vocaloids are only doing the singing, the characters in the PVs, manga, and LN don't have anything to do with Vocaloids.

And yes, it has a plot. (I don't understand where your question comes from considering that there are a lot of Vocaloid songs with plot...)

My thought exactly

This

Because it actually has an interesting and dark plot and characters, the songs are good and its popular enough to make it animated. The only thing that connects this to Vocaloid is that Jin uses IA or sometimes Miku to sing the vocals.

The manga is a bit slow and hasn't covered the interesting parts yet, so I think it's better if the anime covers the novels or tries to follow the plot in its own style. It also depends if it's going to be 1 or 2-cour TV series, one or more OVAs or a movie.

They could release a CD with the seiyuus covering their characters' songs and everyone singing Children Record for example.

This the crossfade of the last album with Kana Asumi as Ene voicing the first half and Kana Hanazawa as Mary narrating the second half

i wonder , how will they make kagerou song appear ? maybe bacme the op/ed of each arc like monogatari ?

although not being a big fan of the series i do enjoy the songs and the novel flow so far, would wait for more info until i can state more opinion

I find animating this series challenging, imo because they have to link everything from the songs to the novels
But still can't wait for this! YES KAGEPRO! ENEE!!!

Vocaloid is popular, only problem is that there hasn't been a true Vocaloid anime with Miku, Luka, etc.

At probably because they are too afraid to depict Miku.

Or that theres no plot.

For your second question, why don't you check the manga yourself?
Uh... I don't want to?

I'm so happy that Shaft is animating Kagerou Project. I feel that Shaft are the only ones that can animate Kagerou Project properly while keeping the same feeling from the songs intact.

Now I just wonder who Hiroshi Kamiya is voicing>>
