Am I the only one who thought the first ep of the English dub was absolutely terrible? It was just sooooo cheesy. Dx
That's what you get for trying to make a video game sound more epic than it really is.

Gen Urobuchi should have wrote this.

Gu Urobuchi is vastly overrated as well.
Damn, do none of you guys ever read a book? It's like you instantly overrate any kind of bad and mediocre writing as long as the label "anime" is put on it...
It's not that anime is exempt from that kind of judgement, it's just that we (or at least I) don't usually compare anime to other things. Also, if my not having seen something you consider good bothers you, well, I'm sorry about that.

The dub isn't what makes SAO cheesy and bad, it only makes the horrible characters and plot stand out a bit more because you don't have the language barrier anymore.

I'm actually quite amazed that they haven't announced the second season yet. Seeing how this was one of the best sellers of last year, it's really surprising how they haven't cashed in on the opportunity yet.

just make another season, instead of announcing toonami....Haish

If I had one complaint, it's that they changed the opening... but that might just be episode 1 that made it shorter for the ending. Wasn't the opening completely there at the end of the sub version?
Don't they do that for all American TV anime? 3:00 (the average length of the Japanese opening and closing credits combined) is a long time considering all the commercial breaks they put.

The last one I remember watching is Dragon Ball Z Kai on Nicktoons and they cut 30 seconds off the opening.

No complaints at all. It's what you would expect from an english dub. I liked it and am surely going to watch every time. :)

I don't have Toonami channel on my TV but was there any difference/edits between the dub and the sub of the first episode?

Curious.
SAO is pretty tame compared to a lot of the stuff they've aired on there. It'll be fine
