According to Fuji TV, mangaka Fujimaki Tadatoshi received threatening letters along with a liquid, which smelled like hydrogen sulfide. The letters were sent to his studio, Toyama High School, and Sophia University, which Fujimaki graduated from, and the sender criticized Kuroko no Basket. The letter said, "Fujimaki deprived me of everything." If he continues to make the parody manga, I'll attack him with hydrogen sulfide." "If the studio continues to publish the parody manga of Kuroko no Basket, there will be an attack with hydrogen sulfide." (Corrected the text.)

How did I only NOW read this? Wow.

I suppose the person said "parody" in order to further show how much he hated KNB, or because he really felt that KNB was a parody of something he was obsessed with? If he was a player, he might feel that KnB was a parody since it is unrealistic to have a Generation of Miracles that pulls of moves professionals can't. Maybe he's psychotic and lost it when his girlfriend told him Kagami was a better player than him, maybe he likes the game and is frustrated because he has no skills and can't improve in the way those characters do.

In any case, it's out of proportion, and truthfully, I'd rather believe it was done to get publicity by someone who wants the series to be even more popular than an actual person. Not because I believe it is, but because, seriously, there we go with even more unreasonable "fans". /sighs forever

I still don't get the reason why this person did this, let alone knowing if it's male or female...
if it's a male, then yuck!

"I have decided to kill Kuroko."

loled at this

but seriously, wtf

Japan, do something already for god sake orz

The media also is nearly useless, not giving out much information, good thing Tsukuru is picking up the slack with the rest of the threat letters courtesy of the terrorist, it's like they want to be caught. It may end soon anyway as they may have got the fool on tape.

This sort of thing seems to happen quite often. I guess this is why Otaku have such a bad name in Japan...

Some people. :D
What bratty delusional life does someone live when they get so heated over a manga not going the way they want it to that they'd resort to evil?

According to Asahi news http://www.asahi.com/articles/TKY201310290091.html other major bookstore chains like Kinokuniya, Sanseido and Junkudo all got the threat but none of them took down anything. Only Tsutaya bent to the threat.

I felt really sorry for the creator though.......now even the manga have to be putt off from that famous chain store......What a tough blow for the fans and the series ;_;

Where is Kira when we need him? Jokes aside, I didn't know Japan's police could be so slow (or dumb) ¬¬' this could become very serious

Oh yeah, isn't this with the guy that knew Fujimaki in high school and apparently something personal happened between them and despised Fujimaki ever sense? I don't think this is the first time I've heard something like this has happened.
But despite whatever happened between the two of them, the guy's a selfish twat.

I've heard of Fujoshi making a serious stink over anime, not so much manga, and especially idols and most of that stuff was tame and nonsensical
Well KuroBas counts as an anime too, right? And when it comes to idols (or male seiyuu) female fans could be as terrifying as some of the crazy male fans. I am not sure about the word "tame" though. Fujoshi may not make a lot of big outbursts but writing something nasty and threatening is well within their weaponry and capability.
