Only thing that resembles anime and manga is Tamaki. I felt that the actor looked like seiyuu of Tamaki (Mamo) even before this drama.

And I just saw from Sakamoto Maaya (Haruhi) official site that she's also doing the narration to the live action!!

Even though I'm not satisfied / feeling weird about the casting, the live action drama is actually funny.

Now I wonder...why it seems that everyone forgot that Moshidora too will have a Live Action which will air at the beginning of June...

I know there's live action movie to Moshidora, but not interested because of AKB girl. Wait, the girl who does Haruhi is in Moshidora, too!! Actually, I want to watch Moshidora, too, because of Seto-kun now.

The cast was a disappointment, but, when I watched it, some fit well enough to suit me. Haruhi's actor was good. Same with the twins. Mori looks hot. Nekozawa is as hilarious and creepy as ever.

The three that didn't fit for me were Tamaki, Kyouya, and Honey. I'm not sure why I don't really like Tamaki's actor, but Kyouya smiles have a feeling of kindness. I think that doesn't fit into his character too well (in the beginning of the story anyway). I suppose Honey's height put me off, but the acting was alright.

especially Haruhi...Her hair is... X_X

You're in luck! Haruhi's hair gets cut, and she looks way better. Did you forget? She gets a makeover from the twins. ...Unless you're talking about her hair after the makeover...

First episode: 6/10. It was alright. I think I set too high of a bar because I felt really disappointed afterwards.

Second episode: 8/10. After I got used to the actors, the live action became very funny like the anime. The animations, such as Tamaki getting throw back and Honey shrinking, were the funniest.

Also, I was wondering if they had announced how many episodes this is going to have? I hope no one has asked yet; I have yet to check the past replies.

Oh noes! They're not -exactly- like the anime characters! I can't possibly watch it. *Shoves nose in the air*
I get that you grow attatched to the characters. I certainly grew attatched to Tamaki, and his dumb yet cute ways. But it's not gonna stop me from watching it, especially when I haven't even seen any of the episodes yet. You can't judge how good or bad somethings going to be just by looking at the characters. I'm currently downloading the first episode, because even though Honey is tall, and some of the actors don't look how I'd exactly want them too, I'll deal with it, because anime standards are so high, none of you "hardcore" fans were EVER going to be happy with a live-action.
Not trying to be mean or anything, it just really urks me when I see people saying they're not going to watch something because it doesn't live up to their impossibly high expectations.
I will be watching it fondly, because of the memories of when I watched the anime a while back, even if it's crap and the hilarity and chemistry between actors isn't there.

I agree with you :) even though the actors are not the one I imagine to cast as the characters, I still want to watch it because I've been in love with the anime and same with you in love with the character of tamaki...and I want to watch those funny moments again...
ahm...can I ask...where can I download the episodes w/subtitles? thanks... :)

well...when I saw the announcement about the live action I was like screaming here alone...but when I saw the cast especially playing tamaki i was kinda disappointed and hunny-senpai is tall..though they make it appear small when he jump..

well I watch episode 1 and 2... same story so i really laugh at it...and the reaction of the one playing tamaki makes me think like he's an idiot(though he's not)...and when i said it in myself...i realize that he portraits the character of tamaki well...

I still prefer the anime... and hoping for season2...

let's watch the live action, it's good as well.. :)

ahm...does anyome know how many episodes will it be?

thanks :)

I did watch it and I enjoyed it. It's a great adaptation, very loyal to the manga, and the actor playing Tamaki fits the character so well it's great <3 Yes, he's not that "handsome", but he's a good actor :3

I hardly watch japanese drama (or any asian drama's) but I prefer a second season of the anime instead of a live action version.
How come all the good shojo manga that I love never get a second season and always get a tv drama?

You need to watch some good asian dramas :3 Getting a drama adaptation is a good change, since we can see the characters IRL. Not all manga-to-drama adaptations are good, that's true, but sometimes when an anime gets a second season it gets crappy too XD

is it me or do japenese actors tend to only have black hair

Maybe because Japanese have black hair? If you seriously think they have all those different colored hair in real life, you're gravely mistaken. Most Asians have very dark brown or black hair. Japanese are no different. While I liked the different hair colors in the show, it doesn't look as good on real actors. So I think what they have is good enough.

Totally gonna watch if only for the cute guys and the hilarity factor.

I think he/she said that as a critique to the fact that they didn't dye their hair to fit their characters, even though some actors do that.

I don't watch dramas but i'm willing enough to see the first episode, but what made the anime so funny was their hilarious facial expressions. I just hope these two share the same humor. :)

Well, black, brown and blond. Orange hair is for "funny" characters. Usually, when they dye it another color (red, white) they are in the role of a "gangster/yankee" XD Sometimes, "white" also means "the evil guy with weird powers".

This makes me laugh, I wonder who it is going to turn out.

^^^^^
Seeing the 2nd video above, I think the only ones who looks ok to me are the twins and Nekozawa. The rest looks weird in there...especially Haruhi...Her hair is... X_X I'm not comparing them to the anime characters...ok maybe a little. I just use the character's personality and match up with their looks...they look WEIRD besides the 2(or 3?) I mentioned.

GIVE US A SECOND ANIME SEASON INSTEAD.

I wish people will stop saying that.

I have read the manga, and I will tell you all this: a second season is not going to happen, not with the way the anime ended.

Once the anime got caught up with the manga, Bones decided to do what they did with the first Fullmetal Alchemist series and come up with their own material to somewhat conclude it.

So while there is still more manga material they *could* animate, they just simply can't cause the original anime material does not tie into the manga material at all.

If they do make additional anime episodes they will either have to come up with a new story for a 2nd season ("Ouran: Conqueror of Shambalia"), or pull a "Ouran Host Club: Brotherhood".

Being a Slice of Life type show it wouldn't be that hard to tie them in. which isn't the cast with a shounen like FMA

Its also a shoujo/romantic comedy, which those type of series have at least some form of continuity throughout the series. Which Ouran does have, especially later on.

While it *could* be possible to do a 2nd season based on the remaining manga material, there are still some MAJOR factors that can and will make a second season difficult, perhaps even impossible, to follow the manga.

For many volumes after the anime ended:

-Haruhi was still trying to pay off her debt, while at the end of the anime she managed to pay it off
-the rest of the school still doesn't know Haruhi is actually a girl, in the anime the find out at the end
-then the Haruhi x Tamaki relationship will be impossible to go by the manga because of how the anime ended

Theres other stuff if i remember right, but its been a while sense I read the manga (the material after the anime ended to be exact), but those are the main reasons why I say a 2nd season is impossible. There is way too much rewriting they would have to do if they did decide to do it. Then remembering how the first FMA film turned out and how horribly Soul Eater ended, I'd rather not see Bones attempt it.

Perhaps i'm just being pessimistic here. Afteral, that was shonen this is shoujo, maybe they can pull off something good...
