Yamamoto Koji, the producer of Notiamina, tweeted that the TV rating of Fractale and Hourou Musuko episode 10 has marked record low of all the Noitamina titles. (0.9% by an unconfirmed source) Yamamoto said the producer himself was solely responsible for the low rating.

Ref. the rating of other Noitamina programs
Higashi no Eden ep 1: 5.7%
Nodame Cantabile Paris Chapter ep 9: 6.6%
Tokyo Magnitude 8.0 ep 1: 5.8%

What? Hourou Musuko is a really good anime! Why must it have such a low rating?

Hourou Musuko? really?
I'm surprised.

Oh well, I guess that studio is not giving the audience what it wants.... which is ecchi and moe anime.

Dude, they aired in the noitaminA slot. Otaku core is not their primary audience (though appealing to both otaku and non-otaku is always the best approach for success, see e.g. AnoHana for example). Fanservice has never been a big part of most noitaminA series so I don't know what you're getting at.
Especially when the rating comparison was done between Fractale/Hourou Musuko and other Noitamina series like Nodame Cantabile and Eden of the East. People should read the news better.

That's a dam shame. Those two anime are mighty fine shows IMO.

Exactly what I was thinking.
Personally...

Madoka = Surprise of the Season (And Best)
Fractale = Dissapointment of the Season

This but why no love for Level E?
IMO best show of the season but then again I'm part of the 5% of people on this site who can watch comedy I guess.

Well, besides being not too great compared to the rest of the NoitaminA shows they're both still very good compared to 98% of the other series airing outside the NoitaminA timeslot.

Am I the only one who liked this show??

Oh well, I just hope he doesn't retire... His greatest work could be the next one.

I'll be sad if he really retires though. Despite it's flaws, I still prefer Fractale with it's attempt of a clever story over fluff like Dragon Crisis.

I agree. People should be alowed to make mistakes and learn from them. Fractale had enough potential to become a great show and that should be worth something.

[TS: Thank you. It's not like the company is being shut down, so there are scheduled new-series! Please anticipate!]

He's the founder of Studio Ordet, they did Fractale together. The company not shutting down, doesn't mean Yamakan will continue.
The studio is as much to blame though. Yamakan took responsibilty for the show, but he didn't write the script and didn't develop the characters. We can thank Okada Mari for the awkward pacing. Ofcourse Yamakan had his hand in the production, but he only did the storyboard for the 1st ep.

I hope this'll teach him not to be such a drama-queen.

I've only seen one episode of Hourou Musuko, so I can't comment on it. But I have seen Fractale, and it was, overall, a disappointment. That's not to say it was bad, just underwhelming, and it wasted its potential. I can understand the low ratings.

Anyways, viewer rating is simple. If series is boring, people don't watch. Simple as that.

I hope so, he completely fail with Fractale. Anyone who can look objectively at the ending will realize all the holes in the story and how aimless the pacing and direction was. In the end we never even found out how that damned Fractale System works (let alone why it needs defiled teenage girls to work).

Oh well, Fractale is still one of the best series from the winter season.
And it has the cutest girl from the season xD

HM is great too.

with everything going on in Japan, this is no surprise

Man, after watching Hourou Musuko, I gotta say it really doesn't deserve to get such a low rating.. in my opinion. It's pretty good actually.
