Wow, the scene with Ayumi and Maya was brilliant. This show is brilliant, almost like an autobiography of a truly talented actress in the making. It's also realistic in how many people are doubting Maya, even her mother. I really can't say enough good things about these first three eps.

I can't quite put my finger on what makes this show so good. It's classic shoujo to a T, with some very predictable plot elements and character behaviors, but it manages to be captivating despite all of that. I suppose the pacing is the most notable thing. The show is far from being fast paced, yet I have not once come close to being bored through these first three episodes. I'm really looking forward to what else this series has to offer because it has been a long time since I've been this pleasantly surprised with an anime.

Very well said. I'm actually quite astounded that something like this has actually quite captivated me despite its slow pace. It's definitely got something "different" that makes it that way, but I can't put my finger on it either. This is turning out to be a great series though - and I'm looking forward to the rest of it. :D

The entire troupe just got dissed by Ayumi.

I've been enjoying this more than I thought I would. Shoujo anime can frustrate me very easily.

Ayumi is such a class act. I love her.
Your mean should be an even bell curve only if you watch every show that comes out. Having a high-slung mean doesn't mean you're rating improperly. It can also mean you're selecting shows well to watch mostly things you enjoy.

That pantomime scene was pretty brilliant, I loved the direction, especially at the end with the faded visuals of Maya''s imagined room as Ayumi put the bird back into the cage. & Ayumi telling the Troupe off like that pretty immediately made her my favorite character. On the flip-side, the amount of "As you know" exposition spouted in the scene with the Chigusa and the director was awful. These details needed to be expressed but the manner of doing it where the guy just out-right recapped the entire history of a play to arguably the most integral part of said play at the drop of a hat was so unnatural and forced it completely broke immersion for me.

The mother didn't go to the play after all, but she did regret it.

Maya continues to impress, loved how she aced the school play and how she did that bird visualization. I like Ayumi, she understands Maya, and was able to quiet down those shit heads.

Didn't know that's what happened to Tsukikage's face, makes me sad. I wonder if she picked Maya to train for the Scarlet angel role?

Straight from the get-go I already really like Ayumi. Rather than being set up as the type of rival to berate their opponent (such as the other bimbos in that troupe), she recognizes the potential Maya has. I'm excited to see this supposed rivalry between Ayumi and Maya. I wonder how much their acting styles will contrast with each other.

Only thing I did not like in this episode was that exposition dump regarding the Scarlet Angel. I imagine it will certainly be an important plotline, but it felt incredibly forced into the dialogue. I wish the creators had incorporated that in a more natural manner.

Regardless I'm invested and intrigued to see where this goes.
