| Katawa Shoujo is generally recommended as a good place to start off as it's the only decent one actually made by foreigners (although it's very average in the eyes of any experienced player), but other than that just check the top ratings on VNDB or some recommendation spreadsheet like the one katz linked. |

| Really recommend starting with Steins; Gate. There's a lot of comedy, drama, romance and really, REALLY awesome characters. And freaking + if you like Sci-fi (its a 10/10 ) Katawa Shoujo is interesting, but a lot of people complain about it being slow paced (really enjoyed it, was my first VN ). Or any Key Vn is highly recommendable : Clannad, Little Buster's, Kannon, Rewrite. |

| Most of them have routes. If a VN has a linear plot / little to no choices, it's called a kinetic novel. You can find out which ones are like that from the chart I linked or from vndb. |
