I can't put words into how saddened that I am that this just got trodden over.
I'm kind of with you but still, I want to see the new material ASAP.
I'm curious to see what people that haven't seen the original think of this episode, which was one of the best arcs from the original, imo.

um yea.. when the hell is it going to get to the new stuff.. its nice to recap the first series, but is that all this second series is going to be with just some alterations? cuz... i mean.. i alrdy watched it once XD

It's going to get very, VERY different after a little while. Like COMPLETELY different story. None of that Dante crap or alternate universes or anything. And it has 75% more badass characters. ;)
Just hang in there a bit longer.

qft

It seemed as soon as I first saw them at the start of the episode my heart just started to break. Poor Nina and Xander.

I prefer the ending this time around, it feels more justified than when they let Tucker live.

I truly hated this episode.. It's so depressing and I really hate that Tucker!!! XD

He really deserves to die, but Nina is just so... She didn't deserved that...

Anyways, the pacing seems a bit off but I'm glad that they're sticking to the manga more and more closely.

I remember this episode from FMA1 very well, and the whole transforming daughter was still as disgusting as in the first "season". Poor Nina :'(

Closer to the manga, but I always preferred the first anime series version of the Nina story anyway over the manga. I always liked how the original series took two or three episodes so that the user really got attached to Nina, thne unleashed the horror of what happened to her. It happened too quickly in the manga and this series...

She was no longer a sweet girl. What better fate could she have? I personally think Scar did the most humane thing possible.

It's quite said the fact that alchemists use human lives to reach something out... And, how can he sacrifice her own daughter for a title of "State alchemist"?
The way Nina talks while chimera is creepy, seems like a undead =/

Anyway.. It was a really nice ep.. Lots of suspense )

Wow, that was sad and creepy. I liked it though it was really interesting. It felt a little off, that may have been because the pace felt weird. Either way it was powerful and hurt, geez Nina dog was just unbelievably scary. Poor thing.

For me, this episode didn't have the emotional depth of the original series' episode. Maybe it was because I knew what was going to happen, or maybe it was the pacing, but I felt quite indifferent to this episode. Meh. =/

Poor Nina :'( It is so sad how she cried when he was killed :( She is really scaryas a Chimera. Her posture, eyes, and voice are really terrifying. Poor Nina.

He really is a horrible person! Who cares more about a qualification (that they could quite easily re-attain) more than their own daughter and dog? D:

It was another interesting episode. Intense.

I thought that they were going to take break from all the developments that had taken place.

That was kind of disturbing, specially since he did it to his daughter.

WOW, great anime!

Ah, an episode descent to start off the series. I much liked this episode compared to ep. 3. A tad rushed in someplaces but not much. Mixed the emotions quite nicely, as well as intorducing Scar, though I do not like his voice all that much. I laughed at Ed for challenging the dog then getting beaten twice by him. Hah. Always worth the laugh. Other than that, not really much was good besides the scenary, etc.

That was a little too fast paced, Nina being developed over some time really works better. Or maybe I knew what happened I don't know.

Scar is still cool though.

Deep/dark Episode. Sucks I already remembered what was gonna happen, but man pretty sad. The girl still loved her dad, while her dad did that to her, and they both got killed at the end.

Idc much about Scar either, but I like him idk. =]

WHAT THE FUCK MAN JUST AFTER I FELL IN LOVE WITH NINA AND ALEXANDER THEY SUDDENLY VANISHED, JUST WHAT THE FUCK MAN. Okay seriously I didn't expect that douche bag scientist to use his own daughter, heck even his own wife, just to save his position as a state alchemist, wow.

Anyways, I wonder who is this religious guy that's killing state alchemist with his electrical powers. I would assume he would also go for Elric? If so, then does that mean he's an enemy? He doesn't look like he's one of the bad guy though, hmm.

Fuck man oh and I also though the Nina/dog would join the Elric brothers but that faggot ass X-scar guy killed her too. :(

Don't be so quick to hate on Shou Tucker. He represents a huge problem in Japan right now. Workaholic parents who would do ANYTHING to keep their jobs and please their boss exist out there. Shou Tucker just took it one step further.

I've been inspired to make a whole article on this...

Pacing? wtf?

I was absolutely heartbroken at the end of this episode. I hadn't watched the first series, and I haven't read the manga. The point of this episode was very clear, and it was executed well.

Since I haven't see the first FMA, this episode surprised me. One second I was laughing an then I went to crying like an idiot over Nina's fate. Really sad episode, I still wish that she could have been saved somehow.

Don't talk to me about character development if Kaizuka Inaho or Slaine Troyard are in your favorites.

So they kinda... KINDA rushed the Nina part, compared to FMA. I really want to get to the actually new stuff in FMAB, but I don't like that they rushed it here. If someone haven't watched FMA he won't have enough time to get used to Nina, and in that way of thinking - he won't really feel how tragic this transmutation actually is. This is not the case with me, but still...
I wonder what will they change in future, having in mind that Tucker is dead now, unlike what happened in FMA. They rushed Basque Grande's death too, but I'm OK with it.

So, that guy goes around killing Alchemists that go against God's path? Is that only State Alchemists or does he have another criteria? Anyway, this episode was damn depressing. So much that I need a break from watching anime. I guess I'll get back to it in around one hour or so. Poor Nina and Alexander... Crap, I felt so bad for them :( I'm glad the chimera ended up dying. I kinda sympathized with the killer for that one scene. I felt so relieved...
