Decent ending. I was laughing my ass off at the manager the whole time. I'm like, yeah, there's no way a plan to defeat a master mindgamer with a scrap of paper's gonna work. He'll get that wascally wabbit someday.

8 overall. Didn't have a Fukumoto-class impact, but it was a lot of fun all the same.

I could translate most of the anime but I don't get what they were saying about the cheating part. Energy ball?? What is that?

Me too, but the chances are pretty low.

Although there were some decent/not so great episodes, I really think One Outs was extremely enjoyable to watch. Giving it a 8/10, maybe 9.

Edit after re-watching: OK, so I lowered the score to 7/10, maybe even 6? I love Tokuchi, but like several people have mentioned, the series mostly just showed how badass he was. No background for him, no big character development, not even winning the championship. I'm just disappointed in a way. The beginning was very entertaining with a lot of potential, but all in all, the entire series was just about The Lycaons playing baseball games with teams that were difficult to beat.

Watched it at last, because I was not going to wait for subs again for a few months. Understood most of it. Tokuchi kicked ass again, and Owner is now delirious. Of course, it's his fault for trying to make Tokuchi lose. This episode didn't really seem like an ending, but they won at the end, so all is well. If only we got a second season...

Pretty good series. 8/10.

The ending wasn't very special, it was more or less like any other episode where Tokuchi pulls off some crazy stunt, which he did. There is certainly a lot of room for a sequel, which I would love to see, however I doubt we'd get one as it doesn't seem like it did extraordinary in Japan. Well, we can all hope. :-\

Awesome ending. Love how they made a sport game into a "chess" game.

Doubt there will be a sequel, madhouse rarely makes sequels.

My favorite pitcher switch stance:

Subs are out. Thanks subbers. Show is over (first season at least), and I am happy I decided to watch this show.
Thought it's going to be just baseball show, but instead, it turned into gambling/strategy baseball show. Great one.

7.5/10
It's so similar to Akagi it hurts. And damn, I just love Tokuchi.

I have to admit that I started skipping the endless explainations in the manager's room in the last episodes...
For my tastes the show was a little to slow from time to time... and explained stuff that wasn't very complicated a little bit too elaborately.
But it still was entertaining to me, more so in the first half than in the second, but still nicely. And it has Tokuchi! so 7/10.

I thought it was a pretty bad ending. The show ended up not being about the contract (we didn't see it through to the end) and not about Tokuchi's debt to what's his name (didn't see it through to the end). So therefore, the show was only about the obvious fact that Tokuchi is a bad ass.

I liked this show more than I thought I would in the beginning, but the show quickly stuck to a forumla and never veered off of it. Moreover, in the pas few episodes, the show just devolved into bad reaction gags and turning the owner into about as comical and desperate a villain as Snively Whiplash.

But at least it was better than Kaiji.
5/10.

Their plan wasn't bad, plus I'm glad it explained by that guy hit Tokuchi's butt :S Truly a hundread years too early to trick Tokuchi ^^

As some have pointed out didn't really feel like an finale, but I thought it was a good way to end the show.... hehehe owner's completely lost it! But more importantly tentative yearly salary is = 4.36 billion yen!!!!!!!!!! XD

The ending was disappointing, I felt it was without reason. Why wouldn't the umpires just finish what they were doing after going through all that work. The season started off really well but it got old and each episode fit into the mold of the show. 6/10.

Last couple episodes were not really on par with the rest in the least, it went downright bad towards the end, but i pretty much enjoyed the show as a whole, this was the most important thing as it is sports anime. So it's a 7.5(8) for now, may or may not drop the score to 7 in the future. Most probably ill drop though =)

Bleh. It was a decent run, but the series overall failed to impress me. After trying to be obvious psychological cousin Kaiji and Akagi, it wasn't all that smart. More over, everything just kept on going like a river. For example, that sandpaper-thing. Toguchi just knew it. There wasn't any basis to it, he just knew. The whole series is all about "Toguchi is frigging genious" although there isn't too many impressing smart moments in this show. Countless attempts to confuse watcher with cryptic baseball rules and making mathematic formulas just for the fun of it.

On top of that, as spiritual cousin of Kaiji and Akagi, it was definetly lacking the pressure and despair. It's not bad, but it's not something I would watch again.

The ending was actually more about Tokuchi learning to be a team player in staid of focusing 100% on himself and money.

But I generally agree with your assumption. I hated the fact that the series was mainly about how great he was. The fat black women at the beginning also didn't help matters at all. Every time I saw her it made me want to punch my computer screen.

I think that that is what the show should have been about--Tokuchi being a team player--and the show was at its best when it focused more on that aspect, but I don't know anyone on the team besides Ideguchi and the guy he lost the bet to.

Pretty boring overall. Very few moments that even begin to live up to Kaiji or Akagi. Worst villain ever conceived, lackluster supporting crew, decent main character. The soundtrack is the only redeeming quality, and it's not as good as Kaiji's.

4/10. Maybe lower.

Decent ending considering they just entered the game season. There will be a lot of seasons to play. I hope they'll continue it, so I cry for another season.

Tokuchi was awesome. I enjoyed the show a lot so it's 9/10. Gonna watch Kaiji next which I keep putting off due to art.

those pants were way too tight for an amateur pickpocket to plant something in them :/

also, ending was lame, I'm assuming there's a related manga that's not finished yet or something and they were to lazy to make an anime original ending.

typical shounen garbage, seems to think talking about the fight > the fight itself. seriously boring by the end.

Aside from Hajime no Ippo, I am not a fan of sports anime, but I must say this... This is the only anime series that I have ever watched in its entirety in a single day/night. 12 straight hours with only one break. This show simply had me hooked!

Now, being that I don't follow baseball, it was kind of off-putting when they would use the terms. However, I must say that they did a good job of explaining what each type of throw was, for those of us who don't care for the sport in the first place

The ending did seem a bit rushed, but I hope that just means that there will be a season 2/ova in the future for it. Throughout the show, I was just waiting for someone to completely outsmart Toua, and as it didn't happen, I can only assume that it will occur in the manga (if it is still ongoing).

I also loved the running gag with the coach constantly coming out with "pitcher switch with Tokuchi", and most of the other comedy effects associated with him. It added a nice touch to the show.

The ending left much to be desired so i hope there is a second season. Actually i think there should be since it wasn't really an ending at all as noteDhero said. We didn't get to see the championship game and no real ending on the contract. I loved it, it's so much like Akagi, with the fact that they are both just badasses at the things they do.

I give it a 7/10 for the fact that there were a few episodes i didn't enjoy and the ending but i overall enjoyed this series a lot.
